I saw this listed and thought someone here might like to have a nice project boat.

Just put it in a bag of rice for a couple days and it wil be fine....

This boat is in Port Orchard WA. It’s about 1 ½ hours from where I live. My company was just awarded 2 fiber optic construction projects in the area so that’s a good reason to swing by and check it out. I have contacted the seller for an appointment. My current boat is nearly new so unless this is a real sweet deal I’m not interested but I’ll try to get some pics and post them.

I dont even want to know what they would charge to rip out the electronics on that thing! With the touch screen I bet you thats gonna be a small fortune. Also, I wonder if they pickled the motor after they pulled it from Davy Jones' Locker....

How does a 3900 pound boat blow off the lift?

guessing that boat has an electronic odo. listed hours. indicates that the electronics do start up?

What could be the most you would have to spend to get it back to where it would good working condition 10k..20k...30k? worst case scenario.

Darrin- did you end up going to look at it?
Old     (boardman74)      Join Date: Jul 2012       02-14-2015, 8:00 AM Reply
Worst case? Electronics alone would be well past your 30K point. Engine harness/ computer, boat harnesses/ computers, screens, gauges, switches, labor. You have to split the hull. Labor adds up fast. If it needs engine, trans, Vdrive thats another easy 10K. Looks like LSV's sell in that $60K range. I guessing this was a insurance total so they must have thought it needed 75% of value to repair it, so it was totaled.

Not that I have the time or resources, but for the sake of conversation, how much of a task would it be to strip this of all the electronics and put a big block crate motor in with aftermarket EFI, analog gauges, etc. You guys are saying 20k-30k to get this thing back to factory specs. I'm thinking this thing will never be factory again. I'd say take that money, or less, and make the boat that we all moan and groan about not being available.

A buddy of mine bought a sunk axis a while back. New computer was all it needed to run. Your mileage may vary but $30k is way high for restoration. 5-10k would be realistic.

It's a better buy for the DIY garage mechanic. Your bill from a dealer will be 50% labor and markup. So you're looking at saving 35-50% if you do labor yourself.

I would run as far away from that boat as I can.

I agree.. if the boat was free to start with, repairing might end up costing more than it is worth.

I bid $1!

Seriously, waterlogged electronics are gonna be really fun to deal with. Never mind a sunken block and v-drive, that could be sketchy as well. Oh and new interior, so basically you're buying a hull and cap.

The people that say to run away aren't far off if you don't have a will or want to work on it... My boat started out as a total piece of mystery poo that will polish up and run nice this spring. I've rebuilt damn near everything including electronics. I will know every square inch of this thing when I'm done but it started cheap and will end far cheaper than just buying a clean used one. Plus I enjoy the project part. If someone wants to and can work on it they could make themselves a nice boat in the end.

If it was cheap enough I'd buy it.

Current bid is at 7.5k. The trailer alone is worth 4k right?

"A trailer is not included in this sale."

Where do you find the bid pricing? I sure as heck wouldn't spend much on that money pit.

I just sent the guy a email asking what the current bid on Friday was.

That SA looks pretty nice. I wonder what something like that would sell for?

Just emailed the guy and he said it is currently at $35k and ends on March 23rd...

"All four original tires and aluminum alloy wheels are missing along with the spare tire."

So was the weight of the back end of the boat ... while on the no-tires and no-wheels trailer ... propped up off the ground by the prop and drive shaft?

Hopefully the trailers prop guard is protecting the rudder and prop.
I had no idea of the current bid, what is the the value of this boat that hasn't been stripped?
Old     (TC_Mastercraf_X5)      Join Date: Feb 2013       02-27-2015, 7:04 AM Reply
Would it have a salvage title if its a theft recovery? Strange they took speakers and left things like the prop and tower speakers...
Old     (boardman74)      Join Date: Jul 2012       02-27-2015, 12:49 PM Reply
From what it says there wouldn't be enough damage for a salvage title. For that matter I don't see how there was anywhere close to enough damage/ loss for it to be a total. I'd bet that boat is a repo more likely than a insurance total.

Could be that the insurance company paid the guy who owned it and they found it months later?
Old     (boardman74)      Join Date: Jul 2012       02-27-2015, 2:26 PM Reply
That is true….didn't consider that.

I called for curiosity and they dont know if the engine turns over. The boat also doesnt come with a cover.
