Gas for Truck and Boa $200.00

Lake Pass $150.00

New Wake Surf Board. $100.00

Day at the Hospital, MRI,
Trip to the Operating Room
And 4 to 6 months off work $?????????

Learning to Wake Surf……………..Really, Really, Really Expensive

So my season is over before it got started I’ve managed to tear my Bicep off the Bone. I go under the knife tomorrow. Then its 4 months in a cast followed by rehab. I’m being told as long as 6 to 8 months before I get full use of the arm again. Wish me well.

Sounds like maybe he got the rope wrapped around his arm or something. Let us know so we can avoid being in your shoes.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hey Tom, here's to a speedy recovery. I also want to hear as I am just learning to wake surf and I'm older than you and already beat up. How'd it happen?

ouch
I tore mine at the end of last summer
but the boat away for the winter the next day
I tore a chunk out of it and "dinged" my rotator cuff
I was lucky
surgeon said surgery would only be for cosmetic
and scar tissue would heal the muscle
functionally, I'm good as new
hope things go well for youUpload

OUCH... guess its a bad day at the doc's. I just got results back from an MRI. I have partial PCL tear. Doc says no boarding, but who should i listen too??? The doc or my boat telling me to go play... Decisions, decisions....

How did I do it? It tore when I was being pulled up. About 1/2 way out of the water my musle tighned up and and felt like buble wrap popping followed by a loud pop sound and a lot of pain.

I won't be on line for a couple of day since surgery is Tommorow so just wanted to thank everybody for the kind words and support.

Tom

PS. I'm a little loopy right now so my spelling is way off.

Make sure you get a second opinion before you go under the knife, Last season I tore my bicep and the doc said I needed surgery and That I might need to get it amputated, But I went to another doc and found out that it would heal on its own it took a while but now I feel pretty good and I dodn't even have to have surgery. if you can see any movement in your bicep while you flex your arm you might not need surgery.

Get well soon and let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Dude wth! We were just riding like a month ago. Best of luck my friend, take care, and may rehab go well.

I've got my MRI scheduled for September, but it's nothing half as bad as yours.

Wow, Tom that's a major bummer. Sorry to hear it man. Good luck with the surgery. Best wishes.

I thought for sure that you fell with a rope around it. I've never heard of it happening when getting up. I did the fall-with-your-arm-through-the-handle thing two years ago. Some of the worst pain I've ever felt. I had a partial tear and still have a dent in my bicep. I guess I just got lucky.

Take care, bro

I had my surgery on Thursday night, all went well with the procedure. The good news is I had a complete tare of the tendon from the bone and no damage to any muscle tissue. The doc had no problems pulling the muscle and tendon back down into place and re-attaching it to the bone. Since there is no muscle tissue or tendon to heal I will be in rehab in 10 to 14 days rather than 3 months as earlier predicted. I'm still going to be out until late August early September.

BTW, do you think it was a pre-existing injury or do you think it happened while getting up on the shread-stick?
Old     (tantrum916)      Join Date: Mar 2005       05-21-2006, 2:53 PM Reply
I think it had a lot to do with the rope we were useing. I think that grip with out a handle changes your arm posision cause you to do a big curle putting all the force on you bicep.
