I'm not really sure if there is a halfway point. I know it just got super cold though. I have a 94 sport nautique that i throw a bunch of weight in. I go to school in clemson though, so right now i basically in the opposite side of the state

John....I live upstate, but work all over SC. I normally ride on Wateree, about 45 mins north of Columbia, and/or Wylie....just outside of Rock Hill, SC and Charlotte, NC. Both lakes are good, but Wylie is very busy. They are both river lakes. I do hear Lake Murray has some nice riding, and a lot of people on wake boats. I have a cousin on Lake Marion...big water so, pretty much windy all the time. Don't know much about Lake Moultrie other than it's a great fishing lake, but it's the closest to Charleston. I was hoping to get a few more weeks of riding in...just bought a new wetsuit, but it looks like cold temps are set now!

Yeah I think there are some places down there on the rivers...Ashley, Cooper, and Wando rivers. I've never been to them but I'd like to go down and find them.

Anyone who wants to ride let me know. I will be there on the 10th and looking for riders. I will be willing to go to other lakes in the state. I am planning on riding all year long, cold weather and all. I have alot of wet suits for all temps. Allthough would like to stay in the Charleston area, atleast in the winter. When summer comes, anyting goes!!

lots of saltwater riding around Charleston, but only a couple locations within an hour to ride freshwater consistently.

one suggestion...maybe look into kiteboarding - its windy around the islands more often than not, so there are great conditions for that!!

If you want to ride in freshwater, the best place to go is Bushy Park by the Naval Weapons Station. There is a salt water and a freshwater side...fresh is on the left. The water there is pretty much unbeatable, most of the time. Especially if you put in, go up about a half mile and hang a left into the first 'creek'. That's Foster's creek and it's almost always glass. That's really the only freshwater riding I know of in Charleston, unless you go up to Lake Moultrie. We went up there once and the winds were so bad, I would have had better luck surfing the whitecaps!
Good luck. If you're going to be there for a while, we'll see you in three years!!!
