V-drive vs. Straight inboard (pre 1990)

I'm looking for recomendations. I found an older v-drive and I'm wondering if there are likely to be any problems with it over a regular straight inboard tourney boat. Is one better than the other? Thanks. -Scott <><

sorry you havn't gotten any comments. It is likely because you have asked a question that has already been asked about a thousand times on this discussion board. Most of the regulars hate answering the same thing over and over. Your best bet is to do a search(top right hand corner). You should be able to find plenty of info that way. Good luck!

alot of the problem is you need to post particulars ie boat,make, year and pics kinda hard to know what exactly you are requesting..........also intended uses and what type of inboard dd you are comparing it to? post those things and you will get answers!!!!!!!!!!

Older v drive? Did they make v drives in 1990's and earlier? Or do you mean an inboard outboard? Where the propellers on the back on the boat with the outdrive unit?

I believe Supra produced the first v-drive comp boat in 1986 and the first open bow comp boat in 1981.

Correct Craft had the first V-drive in the '60s.

yes v drives have been around for a while mostly in speed boats though.
