Painting Wetsounds

Has anyone ever painted their wetsounds speakers. I want to have them painted to match my boat, but I am unsure of what type of paint would be best since they are plastic. The only ones that I have seen painted are some orange ones that are on their website.
Tim, do you know any of the details?

We have had numerous customers paint them. You will want to remove the drivers and take the housings to a paint and body shop. Have them scuffed up or light sand to prep. Automotive paint in 2 step, base and clear. Just tell them to use very low temp for the cure. The housings are an abs composite. Which is what many car parts are made out of. So any good body shop will be able to paint them no problems.

This is how we paint them at our factory for the white and black. We only offer those colors becuase there are so many boat colors, it is better to have the customer color match them on their end. So we recomended it and tell people all the time to get them painted. I have seen, red, orange, blue, green, purple, flames,

There is a blue 3-Some in the misc gallery, a red 3-Some in the Mastercraft gallery, a pair of 485 in red in the moomba gallery, and a set of tribal flames in the malibu gallery.

Should I buy white or black to paint?

I would buy the white ones. Either way, you want to prep them and use some primer. So it really won't matter as you will be taking off the paint. but the white paint is white abs under it and the black paint is black abs under it. So with the white. You can go with a lighter color and not have to use so much prep/primer

Yep, took my 80'a all apart and painted them with two-stage automotive paint. I work in a body shop though. Not the easiest things to take apart but not too bad...
