Ok so my tower I got about a total of $100 all together in the 4 speakers I have on it. I'm going to be storing the boat outside for the season and I'm wondering if they will be ruined by sitting in the rain and stuff uncovered? If they end up lasting 2 years that would be fine with me. And if they will be ruined any cheap DIY ways to cover them up?

I have a single DIY box that I did that holds (4)6.5" and (2)8" so the box is pretty big. I use (2) 48gal trash bags, place one on each side so they meet in the middle and then use bungie cords to hold them in place. Not completely water tight but it serves it's purpose. I am like you, if they last a season, I am happy. May have a total of $200 in the box and speakers.

My boat sits in the rain at times with the cover on it and I never have any problems. As long as the speakers are not a paper cone set up I think they will last a few years.

How do I tell if they are a paper cone?

The speaker will be made of what appears to be paper. Most of todays speakers are made of some type of plastic or synthetic material. What kind are they and I could tell you.
