does anyone have any info on some lake communities in these states. I want to spend around 500000. And I prefer close to the water 20 min.. (VERY GOOD WATER) I am looking for a house! If any of you have any info I would really appriciate the help.

a local website to check out is dcwake.com There are some locals from lake anna on the site. With 500000 you will be able to find some decent land. Land on the water with a house is a different story. So ask some of them. They will help you out too.

Also check endofropegang.com for NC and VA spots. Most of them ride on Hyco, Smith Mountain, Anna and Gaston lakes.

Check out Lake Wylie. Its on the border of NC and SC. You can easily get a 2,000-3,000 Sq. ft. lake front house with a dock for 500K. Land is cheap around this area compared to Maryland & VA. Lake Norman is also in this area - I have never been on it, but I hear its bigger and alot more crowded.

If you want bang for your buck could also look at mountain lake region in WV. Beautiful country w/ awesome lakes. Summersville has awesome cliff diving and sutton barely used!

We're up in Indian Lake in Pennsylvania - an easy ride from DC in the Laurel Highlands. The lake is GREAT for wakeboarding.
