I am trying to export a 25 second Video of Tony but it comes in at 1 Gig so it is way to large to post to the web. I want to post a link to it on wakeworld.

What software are you using Ben?

You got to set the frame size to 480X360 or 320X240 and turn up the compression. Also select an export codec like .wmv on the PC or H264 on the Mac to compress it with. The mac has presets like web/broadband that can take the guesswork out of it.

ditto..

Panasonic's 1800i is 1 GB/min... so I'm curious what the original footage was shot with? HDV is around 13 GB/hour... so something funky is definitely happening on export.

I would recommend h.264 all the way. If you have a newer version of the Premiere then that option is available. As for FCP... I think it's be available since the previous release (rich?)

Good observation Dave, maybe he exported in 10 bit 4:2:2! :-)

h.264 has been around on the Mac for 2 or 3 versions of QT but I'm not sure iMovie supports it yet for export. If Ben is on the Mac then he might need a higher end editor or the QTPro plugin to access it for export.

If he doesn't have access to h.264 then I doubt he can export as a 10 bit Pro Res file.
