Just started doing crow 5's? Wasn't Murray doing those in Mayday back in the late 90's? I guess Parks was doing 1080's (one) way back then too though, and it's just now beginning to be landed by others.

I want to see this crow mobe 7!

Thanks guys wow news travels fast. Yesterday my roomate Aaron Rathy and I were riding doubles when I decided to try it. I fell on the first two. I told one of the guys in the boat to film this one on his Iphone. I ended up landing that one but the video was not clear. Today Shane Bonifay brought his camera out and we captured two wake to wake melon crow 7s. It will hopefully be ready for competition soon I have been landing every other one I try I am currently 3 for 6 in 2 sets. The video should be up by tonight or tommorow. One of them turned out looking alot like an ole 10 but the first and second ones were legit crow 7s. I will check this post again after the video is posted hope you all enjoy it.......more to come crow 7 is just 1 down on the list.

Congrats, Soven. I'm even more impressed that you have already landed 3! Looking forward to seeing this is Reno.

Mobe 5s and Toe 9s were landed years ago, but it seems like everyone is doing them these days.

Way to stay one step ahead.

Dave, I do my share of diggin. I think it was last years double or nothin alliance wrote about it and somewhere in it said "...trying 1080s, double inverts, crow sevens,..."

I was wondering how a crow 7 would look like an ol'e 10?

Very nice indeed. I admit I'm not to tech savy with tricks, not even sure what a mobe is. But can someone explain the difference between this move and a ts off axis 7 since there is no actual flip involved?
Old     (wakesurf12)      Join Date: Jun 2003       05-29-2008, 10:52 AM Reply
Actually there is. Technically it is a toeside melon frontroll 720. A regular mobius is a backroll 360. A crow mobe is a TS Frontroll 360. A scarecrow or "crow" is a TS frontroll 180.

Hope that helps.

i don't like to argue with the best in the sport, but i'm pretty sure a mobe is an invert with a 360 (or more) rotation. What Soven did was unreal, but I think it should be considered an ole' spin or something else. I don't really see an invert in there...maybe someone else can elaborate..there is def. not a ts frontroll in there so i don't see how this is a crow...just my .02

I havn't seen it yet (no quicktime at work) but it's either a crow mobe 7 or an Ole` 1080. If people want to split hairs, hell I think I'd rather claim the Ole` 1080 anyway... Ever seen Tino's crow 5? I've seen toeside 5's that get more off axis than he does and I still consider his a crow mobe 5 and not an "Ole` 9". Whatever...

Bad ass trick dude keep pushing it... Is this the first mobe 7 ever? I think so..
Old     (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       05-29-2008, 11:30 AM Reply
Jay, who's hating? the only thing I hate is people that need some drama to fill there day...I was just looking for some clarification on what Soven just did...it was unreal, and if I were him, I'd be claimin that trick hard as the the first grabbed 1080 ever caught on film...but then, of course, that would bring on the haters, wouldn't it?
Old     (eyedvride)      Join Date: Aug 2006       05-29-2008, 11:35 AM Reply
bro, he is inverted if you pause it. Yea, it's a little out the back, but damn, sick!
Old     (eubanks01)      Join Date: Jun 2001       05-29-2008, 11:51 AM Reply
Off-axis spinning has really muddied the waters between spins and flips. I look at Andrew A's back mobe and HS o/a 7...they look idential in axis but one he pulls the handle over his head and one he passes.

All that to say that this new trick is flippin' sweet!
Old     (cbass)      Join Date: Mar 2007       05-29-2008, 11:51 AM Reply
So what now I am causing drama? That makes me laugh.

Actually if you look at the pic on the front page he is upside down which from my understanding of invert, means upside down or inside out and I am pretty sure he not inside out but that would be one hell of a trick.

A 900 is 2 1/2. A 1080 is 3.
Old     (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       05-29-2008, 11:58 AM Reply
Jay, quick math lesson, 360+360= 720.

360+360+360=1080. seriously...a 1080 is 3 rotations.

please see Sovens post in this same thread, where he refers to his amazing feat as "looking alot like an ole' 1080."

lets put 'er to rest, ok?
Old     (shredsickgnar)      Join Date: Sep 2006       05-29-2008, 12:01 PM Reply
Jay Williams, you might want to retake geometry. 1080 = 360 + 360 + 360. Thats 3 full rotations.

Anyways that trick is ridiculous. I thought I was cool for landing my first crow mobe yesterday hahaha.

Old     (fly135)      Join Date: Jun 2004       05-29-2008, 12:11 PM Reply
So what defines if a trick is an invert? I always figured it was an invert if the board goes over your head. In this case the center of the board goes over the head. Is there an actual definition of invert?
Old     (norcalbordr)      Join Date: Feb 2006       05-29-2008, 12:15 PM Reply
That kid is a freak of nature. landed 3rd attemp...I thought I was cool when I landed my TS 5 2nd attempt. I love the interview "We're going out tomorrow so we'll get it on film"
Old     (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       05-29-2008, 12:25 PM Reply
Q. What's the difference between a roll and a flip?

A. A roll is when the board goes end over end (toeside over heelside or heelside over toeside), whereas a flip is when the board goes tip over tail. The definition of a roll and a flip, in wakeboarding, is based on the motion of the board, not the rider. So what seems like a flip to a gymnast (the rider does a somersault-like move) is a roll to a wakeboarder as the board goes end-over-end (i.e. a backroll). And what seems like a cartwheel to a gymnast, is a flip to a wakeboarder as the board goes tip-over-tail (i.e. front flip).

this is right off of the ww site, and i think it does a good job of breaking down the two diff. types of inverts. hope it helps.

having the board over your head (i.e. raley, o/a spin, glide, etc.) does not constitute an invert...
but like eubanks said...its a lil muddied...anyways, we (myself included) should really just quit caring and send some props out to Soven for his new trick, whatever HE wants to call it.

a buddy of mine brought this up...thats no melan grab. its nelan (nose melan). melan is between the feet. i'm not taking anything away from the trick, its nuts, but my bud has an issue with claiming tricks that aren't quite what they should be haha.

Did anyone else notice that one wake was opened and the other was a little crumbled?

do you think he was doing the old 'turn the boat a little for less line tension' trick that i learnt about on W.W?

Ahah! Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater!!

no, they did a turn-around after he landed, they were deffinately going straight. also, the wake crumbles on the left bacause he is cutting on the right.
