first wakeboard

hello guys, im brand new to this. as soon as i get back from this deployment im looking in to buying my first setup. Im 27 years old. i have over 10 years of snowboarding experience so i think ill catch on to wakeboarding pretty quickly. I'm 5'11" 170-180 lbs depending on my diet and excersize. I live on the ocean in NC, so ill mainly be riding in the ocean behind a boat. ive looked at a few but im still not too sure on what to get. i dont want to get one that is too much of a beginner board and "outgrow" it and have to get the next skill lvl up. so a good intermediate board will be good for me. I'm also looking in to getting a kite for some kite-boarding as well. Will this require a different type of board ? any suggestions ?

these are a few that i have found. I feel like a continuous rocker is the way to go. I have no idea what fin configuration would be best .

If you're riding boat and your water is fairly rough get a board that has a more locked in feel. Something with channels and fins.

Since you're a snowboarder some may suggest a "flex" board but I'm still of the opinion that traditional (rigid) boards are better for boat riding.

If you're going to hit up that cable park in NC from time to time then a flex board would be a better choice to do both.

As for kite boards. They are designed quite differently and while you can make some boards crossover for wakeboarding to wakestyle kiting you really should get a board that is specific to each sport. In addition to that you don't want to learn to kite using boots at first so a kiteboard with straps would be a good choice for that. Almost all strapped kite boards with the exception of some wakestyle kite boards DO NOT cross over well for wake boarding.

One final note on learning to kite. Get lessons! Buying a kite online and trying to self teach is a sure way to seriously injure yourself others or worse...........
