Cdubs new Trick He was attempting to do a backside 180 into a switch toeside front. It looks sort of like a backside rodeo 5 but missed the mute grab.

Sick, very nice.

I'd call it the ghetto spinishy glide but only because I think wakeboarding needs to appeal more to other demographics.

How's cdubs doing? He's been quiet for some time now on this site. Let's his riding speak for him I guess . . .

I think that is an Up-Tantrum to Blind?
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       11-06-2006, 12:53 PM Reply
Yeah I'd agree with Scully. Its a tantrum to blindside. If you look at it, its basically a Mobey Dick not take to full 360. Like a Crook Dick.

Hmmm...definitely Tantrum based. Like a handle pass Tani to blind, but passed early like a moby D.

I like it.

Looks like a cross between a tantrum and a slim chance?

Tantrum to Blind, with early handle pass.

Moby Crook?

A slim chance is a heel front with a frontside 3 isn' it?

Darren, but theres no Moby so you gotta go with Crook Dick or Dick Crook. It either sounds falic-misaligned or weiner-piratey.

Yeah my bad heavy, also he would need to rotate the 3 and revert back to 180 for it to be a crook. Half Dick sounds good.

Years ago, they were called Little Richards. I don't know why, but Locke Price used to do them.

But never that big. That looks pretty nice.

In my opinion...some reference to the Moby D.

How about Blind Dick

how 'bout half a dick since it's half a rotation short of a moby dick? or maybe asian dick? hahahahaha!

Murray does one in Mayday, so it's been around a while. Though not that tweaked out. Almost how Shane B. throws his off axis backside spins. Cool.

"Chris is my boy thats a bs off axis 5"

Maybe it's just me, but I fail to see a 5 there. Wouldn't there have to be two handle passes for it to be 5. And I vote for Half-Dick.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       11-06-2006, 5:44 PM Reply
didn't look like a 5 at all to me. looked like a moby dick w/ a 180 rather than a 3. basically a tantrum to blind, or half-dick.

Ill tell you what if he moved to florida you would all know of him real quick (for those who dont all ready) my computer did not look at the movie I just assumed that it was his OA 5 that only he and S.Bonifay can do. (work computer tells me that the movie is blocked.) So to tell you guys the truth I did not even look at the vid. I JUST ASSUMED. Ill hit him up and ask him....

Because of the early handle pass he comes out of it like a switch toeside front flip.

Still debating this? Seemed like an open and shut case. Technically, I guess you could call it a T2B because it's tantrum based. But really, it doesn't look antyhing like handle pass T2B. It's a moby dick with a 180 instead of a 360. Not the same as a T2B in my opinion.

I agree its should just be called a T2B its just a different way to do it...

however if people must be stubborn and feel the need to name it i think Little richard is a nice way to say it..
Old     (wsrwilliams)      Join Date: Nov 2006       11-07-2006, 9:47 AM Reply
Hey guys whats up! The trick is basically a tantrum to blind just thrown alittle different. For a moby dick you flip straight back pretty much and pass the handle and the trick in the vid you spin your shoulders like for a backside rodeo spin. That way your feet swing up and over the second half like a switch toeside front like seibring said. Overall though i just wanted to throw a tantrum to blind a different way so you can grab with your front hand. i missed the grab anyway. lol

Hey what's up Jeff! Everything's going really good. I took some time off and mostly just skateboarded the past two years. I had to clean my act up but now im riding again as much as i can and def looking forward to next season. Are you still down in canyon?

Joe, call it what you will. I've seen a lot of T2Bs....and I fail to see the resemblance.

If this is a T2B...then why do we have a Moby Dick instead of a "Early handle pass whirly bird?" That's right...Because it's a different trick!

I think that's why they started a thread called, "name this trick."
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       11-07-2006, 12:26 PM Reply
the only difference between a moby dick and the trick in the video above is a 180. the only diffence between a moby dick and a tantrum-to-blind is a 180. (neither are ole 360s, like the whirly)
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       11-07-2006, 12:59 PM Reply
have to disagree with that Joe... moby's are a totally different rotation off the wake, just like this is a total different rotation in the air. if you judge the trick only considering take off and landing (not what is done or rotated in the air), then yes it would be a t2b, but given he does the 180 first, then banks, i'd go with a HUGE banked blind 180. IMO of course
Old     (socalwakepunk)      Join Date: Dec 2002       11-07-2006, 1:03 PM Reply
Chris - Yeah, Canyon is still home, things are good. Everyone here been missing you, seeing you ride! Great to hear you are back on it. Sick trick, BTW!

Everyone else - What is the difference between a frontroll and an elephant? Simple shifty thrown in? If it's legit, then couldn't this trick qualify as a new one? I say let Dubs name it!
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       11-07-2006, 1:04 PM Reply
can i have two opinions? could also agree on the 5, with a some major ole' on that sauced trick!!!
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       11-07-2006, 1:28 PM Reply
So.. depending on how it is executed, a tantrum with a BS 3 can be a whirly, OR a Moby Dick.

BUT, any variation of a tantrum with a bs 180 is a T2B no mater how it's executed.

Just want to make sure I'm clear.
Old     (kingskrew)      Join Date: May 2004       11-07-2006, 1:37 PM Reply
J-Rod,

Tantrum + BS3 (ole) = Whirly
Tantrum + BS3 (handlepass) = Moby Dick

Pretty clear-cut difference....

How about just giving it a name that has nothing to do with any other trick? call it The Shenanigain. By the way looks like a very cool trick.
Old     (cptoafficiency)      Join Date: May 2006       11-07-2006, 2:02 PM Reply
perhaps part of the problem is calling one trick by its component parts and one by some random made up name. this is just one of the reasons why wakeboarding terminology is f'd up. there is no systematic quality to it.
Old     (bigpapaf1f)      Join Date: May 2005       11-07-2006, 3:50 PM Reply
IMO Its not a tantrum to Blind. It is a tantrum with a BS 180, but its not a T2B. T2B is called to Blind cuz you land blind. He passed it early and was able to spot the water. So no blind, just a Backside spin! Also I do like the name "Half Dick", but some guys say it already has a name "Little Richard". So this "name this trick" is point less. It has a name!!
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       11-07-2006, 4:05 PM Reply
if a rider does a tantrum with a backside 180 and lands wrapped, it's a tantrum-to-blind, right? but, if he passes the handle, is it no longer a tantrum-to-blind?
Old     (wakeviolater)      Join Date: Sep 2004       11-07-2006, 4:13 PM Reply
sorry j-rod, but I have to disagree with you!

Just like a toe side back mobe is not a pete rose, without the grab...details matter.

A T2B looks and is different than a half dick.

Another point...why is this not a hasselhoff (parden my spelling David)? Is the rider coming in switch? if so, this could be a hasselhoff.

Front flip...tantrum small difference in rotation...large difference in name.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       11-07-2006, 4:17 PM Reply
front flip vs tantrum = HUGE difference in rotation

front flip vs frantrum = small difference in rotation
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       11-07-2006, 4:20 PM Reply
I believe they used to call it (back when half the guys doing a tany to b did them handle passed) a tantrum to blindside. Look at my original post. Yeah the trick is different than a regular t2b or half wang whatever. But the fact is, it is technically the same trick, just corked a different way. If you want I will go do the ugliest Roll to revert ever and name it a "wang chung delight" if it gives me any street(lake) cred.

Some guys do a HS front to switch by taking a HS front and at the last second pulling around to switch. Others essentially do the 180 as they do the flip. Does that make it two different tricks just because its rotated a little different? Look at Rucks Mute mobe off the wake, it looks much different than Adkisons mobe, is it a therefore a different trick to be named?

i agree with jeff "tackleberry" on this one yes i do see a t2b but it is a different rotation than a normal realy handle pass most people dpo early handle passes right befor they hit the water so its still t2b right cdubs is doing it right of the wake making the rotation compleatly different than a t2b same basic trick but done different so back to what tackleberry was saying just like a front and an elephant i say let dubs name it
Old     (liquidmx)      Join Date: Jun 2005       11-07-2006, 11:15 PM Reply
After some thought I could really care less what its named.

Keep throwing that trick and who cares about how to name it. This is kind of a silly argument in my opinion. Names give me a general idea of what the trick looks like but thats about it. If you put the same exact trick list together on a piece of paper for the following riders would the tricks "look" the same? Harris, Benny G, Harf, Lyman, S. Bonifay etc. I think you get the point.

I say, keep on addin your own sauce to tricks, thats what makes a rider stand out (and pushes the sport), not what they can put down on a trick list or "attack sheet".

The way I see it. Down the line someone is going to say something to the effect of "MAN! Have you seen Cdubs t2b (or off hs bs 5, whatever), its straight crazy lookin" lol.

trever a lot of people do there scarecrows with a late 180 but the other half do them layed out and actually turn the 180 early and then roll over the invert late at the end of the trick on the way down to the water..Guess what its still called a Crow..

Im with Matt who cares what you call it but it doesnt matter when you do the blind 180 by definition a tantrum to blind is a tantrum to blind 180 ..nowhere does it say when you have to pass the handle or if you have to land wrapped up..
