I cannot wait to get my whole crew wearing them! I am going to keep the markers handy to write on them when they are not looking! Eric really nail this one with these shorts! Super cool Idea, people are really going to have some fun with this one.

Glad some posted this! I was going to but I hate to look like the product pusher! EVEN THO I AM! HAHAHAHA

when billabong did these a few years ago the marker bled from the shorts to the boat seats.

what kind of markers are these?

When Billabong did the Tag A Trunk boardshort all they did was supply stencils. The customer had to figure out which ink/markers/paint to use and some didn't use the right kind. This is from one of their ads “Get to work on these things with some enamel paint, paint markers permanent markers, house paint, or whatever else you can get your hands on”

The markers that are included with the CIRE boardshorts are specifically made for writing on fabric. Their sole purpose is to be used on fabric. They are also permanent so they won't bleed out. One critical step in the custom design process is heat setting. One design is complete, the boardshorts need to be put in the dryer on high heat for about 30 minutes. This will set the marker ink into the fabric. We do not recommend using any other types of markers besides what is included with the boardshorts.

When we came up with the idea to make these shorts, I was concerned about the markers bleeding onto other fabrics. So we went through numerous testing trials to see how much they would bleed. We found that if the heat set is done as required, there isn't a problem with the ink bleeding.

So I started designing a pair for myself with one of the first pair of Custom Graphic boardshorts off the production line. Here is what I have so far and I will keep posting updates as I get more complete.

will you have kids sizes too?
Old     (nuckledragger)      Join Date: Jun 2004       09-22-2008, 7:46 AM Reply
Tonis,
A black sharpie will make that R disappear real quick : )

We don't have kids sizes at this time, only mens and juniors (womens).

Super pumped about these. I have some tag-a-trunks and used spray paint and never had a problem with it bleeding. I still wear them. I will definitely be looking into these. Props to CIRE

You might want to create a pair for Jarrod that says 880-W instead of CIRE since he lost his lucky "Cire" pair on the freeway...

Great Idea, but could we get some less psychadelic colors?
Old     (nuckledragger)      Join Date: Jun 2004       09-23-2008, 6:27 AM Reply
Manda- We can ship to Australia if you are willing to pay the shipping cost.

Jason- The boardshorts come with a pack of neon colors. The manufacturer of the markers does have different color markers that would have to be purchased seperately.

Before doing the heating, can you get rid of the design if you don't like it?
Old     (nuckledragger)      Join Date: Jun 2004       09-23-2008, 8:59 AM Reply
The ink is permanent so it won't come out. Bleach may work if you are desperate but I don't recommend ever using bleach on boardshorts.

I always found the issue with the Tag a Trunk's was that once you started it was tough to stop.

The fact is a simple design usually looks better. the first pair I did ended up looking pretty rough by the time I stopped trying to "fix them".

I never had problems with bleeding when I used the spray paint.

I will check on shipping to Ireland and get back to you.

John,
We used a heavier fabric on these shorts to reduce the sheerness when they are wet.
