My wife and I are thinking about relocation possibilities and I'm interested in learning about Austin (and wakeboarding in Austin). I am hoping that some of the locals will tell me about it.

I'm interested in:

1. Generally, what are the good parts/bad parts of living in Austin?
2. Which neighborhoods/area do you recommend if living in Austin?
3. Where do you go wakeboarding (and how far do you drive from Austin to get there)?
4. The typical water conditions on weekends and on weekday afternoons?
5. Generally, what are the good parts/bad parts of wakeboarding in and around Austin?
6. The length of the wakeboarding season for the average joe (e.g. water temp / air temp above 60)?
7. Is the wakeboarding social scene pretty active?

I'm looking for information on both the good and the bad about Austin. Thanks for your help!

JR

JR,
1. good:anywhere west of IH35
2. I prefer south/southwest side
3. we go to pedernales river/upper lake austin usually after work on weekdays and morning sessions on weekends(about 25 minutes from my house & 30 miles from downtown) Lake Austin is much colder I mean closer to town.
4. glass on weekdays and weekend mornings
5 its all good
6. for us march-november but we dont have/use wetsuits. water temps 60ish in march and 70ish in november.(right now it is 83)
7. party scene is quite active.

JR, it will suck if you move!

Regarding Austin, what wakeboard water-front properties exists?
And, how expensive are the properties?

We're giving it a lot of thought, but haven't decided anything. I'm also looking at Raleigh, NC and a couple of other cities.
