Hey I'm buying my first wakesurf board. I would like to buy from Ambush/Buywake in Kennessaw, Ga just because I live 20 minutes from it and i would like to support the local shop if possible. I have surfed once for a total of 5 minutes so I have no clue what I need or my style (which I don't really have yet). I have read where an IS Blue Lake is a good beg/int board so I was thinking i would get that but I didn't see them on Buywake. I have an MC X45 so I should be able to get a decent wake once we play with it some. Any suggestions would be great. I don't want a cheap board but I also don't want the most expensive thing since I am new to this. Thanks for any help.

The Blue Lake is no more until the Blue Lake V2 comes out in a few months.

Buywake.com like most wakeboard shops only carry wakeboard brands. It's great that you want to support your local shop, but at the same time your local shop doesnt support wakesurfing.

If you had to buy from them, the best choice would be the 2011 Ronix Koal. But like most boards from a wakeboard company, you will out progress it fast.

How much do you weight and what is your plan for balance?
With no info at all I would suggest the Inland Surfer Squirt. It has proved to be the best beginner board for under $400 and works with a huge weight range. But with info on your wake and weight it will be easier to suggest a board for you.

Sorry knew I would forget something important. I am 6ft and weigh 185lbs. Sorry I just got the boat at the end of last summer so we haven't played around with the wake for surfing at all. Probably gonna get like 1500lbs extra to add plus factory. As far as Buywake, I just thought I would like to buy from them since there local but I am more worried about getting a decent board. Thanks for the help.

At your size and with that much weight, you will be able to ride almost anything so you have tons of choices. Do you want to go for skim style or surf style? Usually boards are one style or the other and they is no real hybrid in my opinion?

What are the main differences of each? Considering I have no experience I don't really know which would be best to start with. Sorry for the dumb questions this is just new to me. Thanks for your help.

Consider an IS Mucus ?

the IS Mucus would be a great choice. I totally forgot about that one.

Skim: floaty feel, easy to spin, easier to get up on because of thin shape
Surf: locked in feel, powerful turns, harder to break free for lipslides, more responsive rail to rail.
