Anybody board much at Lake Nacimiento? I was thinking of doing a vacation there next Summer with family and friends and renting a house for a couple of weeks. Would it be a good lake to do it at? Is Lake San Antonio better?

Also, I looked around a bit and saw some rentals on VRBO. I'd want a 4 bedroom house that takes dogs - preferably with a dock. If anyone knows of some place good, let me know. Nothing over $5000 a week.

I went to school at Cal Poly so I was at Naci every weekend and a few days during the week for 5 years. I never realized how much I was spoiled with the Delta until I went to Naci. Its your typical busy lake where its tough to ride during the weekends because of bad water but every once in a while you can find smooth water way in the back. Otherwise, you gotta wake up at the crack of dawn to ride. Its a nice place though, just don't go there for the riding, enjoy the scenery instead.

if you're going there for a couple of weeks, you will not have a problem finding good water. especially if the water is at a decent level. weekdays at Naci are usually always great.
use the weekends to chill and watch all the idiots, and utilize the weekdays for butter.

I'll be riding my hydrofoil most of the time, so I'd be happy with only having smooth water some of the time like early morning and dusk. Although constant rollers throughout the day wouldn't work so well.

beware of shallow water. Naci is infamous for random stumps. would suck to catch your foil on a stump, when you are a few hundred feet from shore.

I ride Naci all year long, rode last Saturday and it was epic all day. Buttery and water was a cool 63 degrees. In the summer, mid week is absolutely off the hook. Warm glass runs all day long. Weekends are a typical Ca public lake, crowded and full of yahoos. We ride 6am during the summer weekends. As for shallow water, it is only a problem when the lake is dropping or filling rapidly. The rangers don't have time to mark everything. It's a muddy lake so usually you'll just plow through some very soft muck. Last thought, San Antonio is decent but the water quality is crap compared to Nac and its a long narrow lake that is subject to winds. My profile pic is Naci.

Never been to Naci, but my crew hits up San Antonio about 5 times a year. We like it, especially if you're able to get a weekday or two in. The weekends are not bad. We usually ride from about 6.30ish to 10 or 11, sometimes noon. Then go out again around 6ish. The winds are like clock work, on at 3 and off at 6. Not sure how it would be on a houseboat. I would say, rent an RV instead. The lake is too small to justify a houseboat (IMO).

My profile shot is San Antonio.

Grew up on Naci...weekends have turned in to jet ski haven, it's pretty bad. Week days are the way to go!
