Does anyone ever put any type of chemicals in there ballast bags, just doesn’t seem right the small amount of water that gets left in there to get stagnant or rotten some how, stink etc.

There is some chemical that water bed manufacturers sell...I'd try that.

If you are frequently going out, I wouldn't think it would be an issue. You would always be filling and emptying. So you are always flushing out the bags. At the end of the season, take them out to empty completely.

A couple of ounces of Odor Ban (Sam Club) works great.

If you want to get all of the water out at the end of the season just hook up a wet/dry shop vac through the inlet hole and suck out the residual water left over.

You can pour a little bleach in at the end of the season, but maybe that's why mine fell apart last year? During the season, I wouldn't bother with anything.
