Hi Guys. I need a new tow vehicle. Thinking of an E-350 ford super duty van. Hauls my peeps and my stuff w room to spare. Anyone have any reason it would be a bad idea? Here is a link to the van.

I used to roll with a E-250. Was a great rig when your single with no kids. Load up all your gear, bikes if you ride. even had room for a couch in the back. Its like a mini motorhome.

That would work great, but you might want to consider a used one with a diesel? Better fuel economy and more power for towing. I've seen vans like this with less then 40k on the speedo and a diesel going for less then 12k Check ebay there is some deals right now.

Great idea Robert. Looking at inventory now. Right now I am pulling w an 1999 Denali. Denali holds 5 peeps and some stuff. E-350 holds 12 peeps and perhaps 15 in the extended version. Lots of times we have to take more than one vehicle to the lake. Thanks for the posts

There are tons of these on ebay all the time with the diesel in them. You can even get a nice 3500 with a Duramax in it too.

Yes thats a good idea. Anyone have any negatives on using a van as a tow vehicle. I know they have a tendency to roll over. Basically my idea was to take the van and set it up to look a little like an excurson. Except it will be bigger and cheaper. Here is an excursionUpload

A van does not have a tendency to roll over!

Ford Van Lift

I drove one as a chase truck in the Baja 1000 two years in a row with no problems. The van was fully loaded and actually had a lower center of gravity than the other chase trucks because the bed is so much lower.

I'll see if I can find a picture of the chase van. It was built by Autofab. Someone makes prerunner fenders for them too!

My first tow vehicle was an E-250 club wagon. put over 200,000 miles on it. Pulled great, and plenty of room. My only complaint would be it was
2 wheel drive, although now seeing more 4x4 vans. Just may consider one, if I ever wear out my Suburban.

Diesels in club wagons is pretty tough to come by and they don't make them in a 4x4 but you can get a conversion for about $10,000.

Those vans are pretty tight. The white passenger one especially. I typically only put in in nice boat ramps. In fact to the lake I go to its paved from home to the ramp. In florida you could never pull a wake boat off road in the muck. Mostly I just want to be able to carry my stuff with me. again thanks for the posts

Does anyone know if they do rv conversions? I'm looking to lift my 31ft Class C E450 chassis.

Yes, Camburg will lift an RV. I have actually seen several of them down in the Baja. One actually had a 4x4 conversion done.
