fyi:
Cardomain is closing out Polk DB650s for $56.99+tax w/free s/h.

The DB650 seems to be one of the more preferred 6.5" speakers on Wakeworld. I understand these speakers are quite "bright" which makes them ideal for the open air environment of a boat.

dang it-- Circuit city is now
"Hot deal: Buy one pair of Polk get the 2nd pair 50% off "

so that'd be $150 for four.

Nice I just ordered a few for myself thanks for the FYI. I had seen that deal a month ago but when I went to order they were sold out so I thought it had passed me by especially since it's a "closeout"

I have them as my interior speakers and am plenty pleased. That is a good deal too.

I bought mine a few weeks ago -- so that might be why they are more expensive now --- they were buy one get one free though :\

Sorry

Do you have to have a AMP to run these speakers, or will most good head units produce enough power just for "normal" cruising volume levels?

I just got these at Circuit City b/c I had been seeing that they are well liked on ww and wb.com. Yep, they are 99 for a pair, and then half off the second pair. 150 for four. Same hole and same screw patterns as my old clarions in my x2, super easy. Made a big difference with same deck and no amp. But then again my old speakers were totally shot.

Put a pair of the 5 1/4" (DB525) in my boat last year with my new deck and loved them. I ordered another pair off of Cardomain today to replace my other two speakers for only $50 ($60 less than I paid last year for one pair). Can't wait to get them in my boat and cruise around with them! They even shipped out today about 4 hours after I ordered them. Thanks for the heads up man.

Hey, can anyone tell me if the db650 or 651's will fit in behind the factory mesh covers of my 03 Nauti without needing any modification, spacers or redrilling of screw holes? Clayton how are you finding the 651's?

Mine just arrived today -- talk about fast.

turns out cardomain is south of Seattle...which means I paid $11 in tax. but got them next day.

They came with a promotional sample of Speed Stick Deodorant. Why? I don't know.

I found the 651's on the circuit city website a while back ... i was looking for 650's but they didnt have them anymore. I bought them, and picked them up in store. I've installed two of them, sound awesome.

How do the mmc650's compare to the db650's or 651's? Is it worth the extra money? Iv'e seen the mmc650's for about $120 shipped/ pair.

I went with 4 pair of mmc650 in my boat. Audiodealer.com has them for 105.99 plus shipping. I emailed them, and they gave me discounted shipping for 4 pair.

The db650's will fit behind your cloth covers of your SAN. Screw holes might not light up exactly but they will fit. Nothing will be seen from the outside so it really doesn't matter.

Thanx John..I have some mmc6540's to try, if they don't fit I will go with the db's.

when they say the spks have 2 way xover, does that mean they have 2 caps to block low bass frequencies from the woofer cone and a cap for the tweeter as well? Also, does anyone know if a 220uf cap is the same as a 220mf cap. I was told by Clarion tech to get some caps to keep unwanted bass out of my 6.5" spks but when I tried to buy them all they had was 220uf.

Can't go wrong with Speed Stick.

I'm running the 650's as my tower speakers on a Kenwood amp. They sound great.
