Any name brand car wax with Teflon. Interior - Magic Eraser followed up with 303. 3M makes a good interior cleaner as well. May have to use a soft brush if the vinyl is really soiled. You did not ask the question buy Ducky makes a good water spot remover - use it after pulling the boat out. Dilute it 1/1 - works killer.

Anyone know if a clay bar works as good on a boats gel coat as it does on a cars clear coat?

I clayed mine this past weekend. I couldnt tell a huge difference, but it did take off all the surface contaminates. If you have embedded water spots, it should take care of them.

Doesn't the color of the gel coat matter when choosing a wax? I say this because our old boat was white and we used wax with some grit in it to help remove stains. The name of the wax slips me right now but it was unbelievable. Now we have a black boat and are afraid to use wax with grit in it for fear of scratching the gel coat. So, we use something different which works not quite as well but still does the job.

For those of you who have boats that are colors other than white, do you guys apply cleaner on the exterior of your boat before waxing or do you guys just wax?
BTW I remembered the wax that we used on are white boat and our back boat.

Anyone know if Magic Erasers will hurt your gelcoat?

Magic Erasers are said to be an abrasive. I have used them to get real small scuffs out that are on top of the gel. I wouldn't use them over a large area though.

Chg, you always want to wax a clean boat because over time you will be sealing in the scum, etc. You stand the chance of losing the luster of the gel coat.
