Well these are kinda like trucks, but kinda like boats too so it goes here. Dave can move it if he wants to.

There are some things in life that you should do at least once. Just to say you did.
Swamp buggy races are one of those things.
Naples Florida is home to the only sanctioned swamp buggy track in the country. The redneck yacht club is just up the road about 20 miles.
Races are held four times a year. The March race brings the coronation of the new seasons Swamp Buggy Queen. Ooouumphhhh. pffft.
So yesterday i took the three beasties to the races for a little fun.
You Kali guys might not get it. The mid-westerners should relate. They have rednecks up there too.. i know cause i seen 'em.

There are basically two types of swamp buggy with different engine classes.
The first type is long and light and goes real fast actually planning over the sippy holes. ( a sippy holes is two spots in the track that are about 6 feet deep) The front wheels are skinny and act like rudders. There are also flat skiis under the front A arms. They use boat hydraulic steering.

The second type is more like a modified jeep. They have air and exhaust snorkels and drive through the sippy holes, not over them.
The course is like a figure eight and averages about 4 feet deep of mud and water.

The swamp buggy was developed for hunting in the Everglades.

here is a video link . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADovhUcaZpo

Interestingly women are very competitive in the unlimited buggy's, taking the podium at most races.

Here are pics of yesterday, enjoy and watch the video.

Every self respecting cracker needs to have one of those parked between the john boat and air boat.

Haha...I have had a chance to see this before in naples. Naples would be the last place u would expect these contraptions and rednecks but its hilarious to watch these guys for sure.

I wish they still had the TV coverage they used to. Anybody remember Diamond P sports? They would show full swamp buggy events. I'm a big fan of crazy contraptions and these are among the craziest. Rock rock on.
