I second that! Troy is the man. If there is someone that wants his product he will find a way. He was trying to con me into taking 12-15 bags up north with me in my beater car.

I don't know if they have a website, but their number is 909-376-6450. I've got 3 and I'm trying to get 5 more from him now. I found a new place to stash weight in my bow! :-)

T-Roy is definitely the man. I got 16 of them stuffed in my boat, and could probably use a couple more.

I'm not exactly sure what Pop Bags are? I'm assuming some sort of ballast, what are they and what do they cost? Thanks!

Ditto what Cody asked.

The POP Products bags are 40 lb weight bags. The bags consist of rolled steel shot (rolled so it's not sharp), in a sealed plastic liner, with a little bit of oil to keep the shot from rusting. The plastic liner is then placed inside a vinyl sac with a velcro closure, with nylon handles for easy carrying and moving.

they're awesome.

As I mentioned in another thread, I've got the bow tank, but I'm also adding Pop Bags to the front. Here are some pics of three Pop Bags (120 lbs) jammed into the extra deep side pockets of our Malibu VLX. As you can see, I can add at least two more for a total of five on each side. The total added weight will be 400 lbs and none of it will be in the way. :-)

Dave. I used to stash lead there in my LSV
Old     (jeff359)      Join Date: Jun 2005       08-20-2005, 6:24 PM Reply
Sounds like enough of us here in Norcal want them. I MAY be able to make a road trip in the motorhome and load up. I wont be able to do it until sept, I'm a little busy through the rest of the month.
Maybe Troy can hook us up with a group buy, if we get enough orders. All I'd be looking for is enough money to recover my gas money and a few bags for myself for the trouble. Gas ain't cheap in a 32 foot class A.

David, did your boat come with the big tank in the bow? I have been hearing that the wake is good right out of the box and no weight is needed. If you have the small tank I can see why your adding more weight, but if not why would you add more. BTW I am very interested in this boat. I want a boat the has a good wake with no ballest for people to learn on then a kicker for others.

Sorry for the hijack all.

I don't know, but Troy, Mr. POP Products told me to come post the good news and say that there is a lot. So get 'em while they're hot.

There is only one size tank you can get in the bow, and I do have it. However, I think the front needs just a touch more weight, especially if you have a few people in back. It helps to get on plane faster when starting and when you're pulling kids at slow speeds.

I tried putting 10 Pop Bags in front and it was too much. I'm back down to six now and I think that's just perfect.

Dave,

Cool idea stashing up front. I keep stacking them in my walk-through, but I will give this a shot. Not really in the way in the walk-through, but further up front would be good. I have been putting about 5-6 up there, and 5-6 under the rear-corner seats.

How's the new ride? Have not see you at San V in quite a while. You know, these boats like water!! j/k

Talk too you soon!

I was there yesterday...where were you????

If your side pockets are the same as mine, you should be able to slide them way back there. They're pretty deep. It's tough to get them in because you have to lift them as you put them back there since they won't slide on that surface. It's not easy, but once you get them in, it's nice to have them out of the way.

Do you guys move the weight around when you trailer it or what? Do you guys have problems towing with an extra 500-1000 lbs of lead/steel, like worse gas or anything? I'm curious cause I wanna add more weight to my boat but thats the only concern.
Old     (greg__s)      Join Date: Jul 2004       09-23-2005, 7:41 AM Reply
Jeff - I only move the weight out of the bow when loading, for easier loading, and trailering to keep the tounge weight down a little. I drive a 1 Ton PSD so a another 500 lbs doesn't effect my mpg at all.

Buzz - how do you have your VLX weighted for surfing? Neal at M2O said you have it dialed in.

I move an equal number of bags to the back of the boat when trailering. I've only got 440 lbs of Pop weight, so no effect on mileage.

Dave,

Missed Wed, due to last minute changes on dates and commitments on my end. Looked like a blast. Was there 6A-6P on Thurs though.

Greg,

Have not heard from you in a while. How's the new boat? I know - stupid question!

Beorfly, here is what I do:

2 400 lb sacks in the same rear locker, 4-5 pop bags on the same side, usually under the corner seat, 4-5 in the walk-through. Empty rear tank on opposite side. Sometimes empty a little out of the bow tank. Sometimes use the wedge.

I have had a smokin' wake a coupe times, then the next time out try to do the same thing and can't seem to get it dialed in. It takes a lot of experimentation. Placement of people (the more the better also) makes a difference.

The pop bags are great. Easy to move around, etc.

Just keep trying different things. There are a few good posts on the wakesurfing section also.

Get in touch sometime and let' V.

Take care.

buzz, i might recommend putting more weight in the bow, along the side, and using the wedge. the wave/wake will shrink but it will have a much nicer ride.

we have had great luck with wedge 500lb rear seat, and 800lbs on the stbd side. then again you have an 05 vlx and i have a rlx!

Thanks Madchild. I have tried stuff, but I will give that a try next time.
