Need help with pulling out carpet on a Supra

I was needing some help on redo'ing the carpet on my 91 Supra Impulse. I also want to replace the wood that is underneath as well, mainly because its so rotten that I have soft spots all over the boat. Pretty much, I need to know how much time will I need, materials (what kind of wood), and would it be better if I had someone else do it. Or what would be better then carpet as a replacement. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've never redone the carpet on an inboard, BUT I have redone the carpet and floor in other boats. Basically to get the carpet out usually there is a screwed in piece of trim all the way around the base of the floor. Unscrew that and then the carpet will either be tacked or stapled or glued to the floor. Pull it all out. Then on the boat we replaced the floor by tearing out the old rotted wood. And putting in new 2x6 beams to replace rotted ones. Then we used 1/2 treated plywood and we sealed it with wood sealer. Then installed the floor in 2 sections, front and rear with lag bolts. Then the new carpet with laid over it and stapled the edges after we glued it down. Keep in mind this was on a 1968 Mark Twain Ski boat, not an inboard.

You probably won't know what you have to work with until you pull the carpet and the floor up. Good luck and take your time. Do it right the first time and then you won't ever have to deal with it again. Post anymore questions you might have.

You have to remove as much of the interior as possible. Like the side pockets, back seat, front seats, etc. The carpet is usually put down by the manufacture before the top is placed on the hull, so you might have to cut some pieces out since you aren't going to take your top off.

It should be pretty easy. Just be aware that you might not get the carpet in all the same spots it was before because of the top being on the boat. Measure three times, cut once. Take your time putting it in and then replace all the other trim, seats, vinyl etc that you had to take out.

Another thing I am debating about, is if whether or not I could use the stuff like Rhino Lining/Line X instead of carpet. Would you guys think this is a bad idea, because of the heat factor? I'm going to start pulling out everything Monday, gotta go out and enjoy the TX heat this weekend first. So hopefully I'll have pics to post
