I am thinking of heading south over X-Mas break to visit my sister in Austin, TX.

My kids would like to try to get in some wakeboarding while we are down there. Is it possible this time of year?

We would not be taking our boat, so if I could find a school or something that would be great. Maybe even a cable park??

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It will likely be chilly, but you can definitely get some good water on Lake Austin.

You might consider posting up looking for pulls on the local Austin forum: www.360wakeboard.com

Texas Ski Ranch isn't a bad drive either.

last week it was 80 one day and 29 the very next. with a wetsuit and warm air temperature you should be ok. i think the water is still in the low 60s. but i dont know for sure

got to lake bastrop about 30 min away or so. its small but is the cooling system for the powerplant.. i bet the water is still in the high 80s.. in the summer you can find spots near the discharge in the 100s

TSR is 40 minutes away, probably your easiest option. Today was 50 here and tomorrow is gonna be 75. I've been wearing a full suit, water is getting chilly.

I'd say in the high 50's-low 60's. A full suit has been feeling pretty goo

Thanks for the replies.

Anyone know if there are any schools operating? If so, do they have equipment rental - including the full wet suit? I have 3/4 wet suits for the kids. They might want more - but then they are a lot more tolerable than I am.

Thanks

We used to ride on Bastrop when I worked at Lone Star. It is plenty warm enough to ride. I wasn't there until february but I don't think i wore a wetsuit while I was there.

I just rode today on Lake LBJ 75-air 62-water. There were no other boarders on the lake just a few toons and some bass boats here and there. The water was SO perfect.
