I just love these little planes. IMO they are the closest thing to a Full Size RC Plane, In the hands of a Skill full Pilot you can pretty much put ones of these planes down Any WHERE. No bells and whistles and not very fast but the plane make up for it in its ability to go anywhere

Check out this guy as he slip's this Piper Cub into a water sloug just big enough to do some winching one.

Not the best performance, but you can take off and land from land or water and then tow it home.

Yes That ION5 is a cool set up. Another advantage is it's in a new flying class called Sport Flyer, It's a new class of plane that doe's not require a pilot's Lic
Also the build rules that Apply to the Sport Flyer class allow it to be built much cheaper. The FAA relaxed it rules and made it much easyer for planes like the ION5 to come to market. We should start to see more planes like this come to market if the ION5 sells like crazy. for $140 you might see more people get into flying than you would have in the past.

A Piper cub on floats would be around 1/2 the price for a plane that was made in the 40's and would be around the same performance.
