Sorry sure this topic has been beat more times than tina turner but everything I read about in boat speakers keeps going to wetsounds. Right now just really not up to blowing 300+ on that.

Getting all new vinyl back in 2 weeks had the tweeter cutouts done away with in my x9.

I've had the polk mm's before but not the db's but keep hearing good things there and the price is right. Just thought I'd pick some brains on any other options. Budget isn't solid but would like to stay under 100 a pair. and the lower the better since I just blew 3k on vinyl for a 10 year old boat.

Current setup:
Tower-Kicker 6500.2's
In boat-Factory clarion components (the suck)
amps-(2) clarion apx490m amps
110x4 rms at 4O
150x4 rms at 2O
cmd6 head unit

I'm happy with my tower setup especially for the $ but the in boat is terrible.

Under a $100 a pair:

Pioneer marine
MTX marine
Polk marine (non DB)
Fusion marine

I prefer to recommend the Pioneer first If someone doesn't want JL or WS interior price and construction.. It will be the closest...

My new (to me) boat has the polk DB650's where would someone put them as far as high end/budget speakers?

Polk DB651 are great for the money. You can get a pair for $59 at SonicElectronix.com.

Are they light years away from being on the JL/Wetsounds stuff? Or Farley comparable?

Wow my phone messed that post all up lol. Are they fairly comparable to the wetsounds/JL equipment?

For me looks come into play almost as much as performance. I'm no stereo guru but I love these Rockford Fosgates. You can get the grills in white or black to match whatever color interior you went with. You might find them for <100...looks like average price is around $110-120 tho..

How about the WS XS-65 they are not much more than your budget and wont need to be upgraded in the future. Get in touch with a dealer and see if the can do a package deal

Chatt that would be awesome. My budget has gotten slaughtered this winter with too many projects. Anyone have any thoughts on:

Can anyone else comment of the SQ of the RF262's?? Are they close to the JL's M770's?

I had 4 infinity speakers like those on my tower, but the 6x9s on my old boat. They screamed and still sounded good, especially for what I paid on them

We have the infinities in the 6x9 version with 100watts running to them on the high pass setting and they sound great for the money we spent

I have some used Wetsounds XS-65 Im looking to sell. Just going to the throw that out there. If those are the speakers you want, shoot me an PM/Email and we can work out the details I pulled them out of my 2012 boat, so they are in great condition.

Otherwise, my buddy has the RF262 speakers in his boat, and I think they sound pretty darn good for the money.

There are alot of choices Will, I would prefer you stay away from paper cone or sub par construction, for your price range. That would be my suggestion.. I will throw out the used xs65's sound good someone offered. If they are taken care of and a good price, could be a find....

How do you have the towers powered? I picked a pair of 6500.2's up and need something better to drive them. How do they sound at distance? I've seen a few videos but nothing can do justice like a real life account.

Run mine bridged on one of the clarion apx490's. They are clear at 75'. Perfect for tunes while riding on a budget. I got the 300 dollar refurbed ones and have had zero issues.
