Brake the Wake is a winch and rail contest that will take place in Guntersville, AL. Date: August 28-30.

There will be at least four things to hit. Kicker, roof top, Banked wall ride, flat box, and could be more. The first 3 I listed will each have a cash prize for best trick in both open wakeskate and open wakeboard. Plus other contest to put a little spending money in your pocket.

Location: Coventant Cove Lodge & Marina in Guntersville, AL. http://www.covenantcove.com/
They are giving us a great deal on rooms. Lakeside is $85, parking lot side is $75. **make sure you tell them you are with the Brake the Wake event to receive the discount.

I'm confused by the name.. are you referring to slowing down (braking) the wake? Are you referring to a braking mechanism on the winch? (I am not familiar with how the end of the line is dealt with on a winch)...

Sorry if I'm being dense, I'm curious.
Please enlighten me.

Brian, I came up with the name a couple years back. Brake the Wake is going to be a winch and rail series. "Brake the Wake" is due to not having a boat sponsor that wanted to be a part of the event when it was planned last year. So we took the boat out of the contest, stopping the wake section, and just used the winch...Brake the Wake.

Thanks for the comments on the rails. I'm done building for a while.

Insurance? Waivers?

Just curious about the format, I'd like to host something like this locally..take it to PM if u want.

Sounds like an awesome event!! Obstacles look well designed and sturdy.

Jason,
we need to get some of those rails and kickers down to our spot and invite a selected few out for a couple days of riding.

Better have some big trailers... The wall ride is 40x12' and the rooftop is about 52' long. Agreed it would be a great spot for a slider shesh. You guys should come up. Word of warning though, we are only allowing riders to hit the rails that have some experience on rail riding. Don't want to wad some beginner up trying to hit a huge rail their first time at it. I'm going to be there Friday evening and Saturday.

I've been meaning to get with you and hit the spot again, just been too busy with life. Saw you guys are progressing well.

UPDATE: Wakeskate and Wakeboard both have $100 cash prizes for best trick off the kicker, on the rooftop, and on the wall ride.

There will be plenty of other ways to win small amounts of cash and prizes.

Don't forget to book your rooms Covenant Cove Lodge (256)582-1000

SIDE NOTE: Roof top is 64 ft
