I'm looking for a mechanic that can do some maintenance work (hoses, spark plugs, etc.) as well as solving the mystery of my transmission once and for all... I just had the seal replaced on my driveshaft as it was leaking into my transmission somehow, but despite having all the water taken out and the trannie "saved", it skipped again yesterday. Ended the day on the water pretty quick but now I don't want to take it to the same place again. Do you guys know someone within an hour's drive that you trust?
Thanks!
Boo.

Got the perfect guy for you. Carl at Halton Marine in Burlington, just off of QEW @ Appelby Line. Great guy, really good work and very honest. Got my '85 Supra going back to him for winterize and damper plate this season.

I would go to buckeye Marine... 5 star certified and top 100 dealer for 3 years straight.

They have certifications from Mastercraft, Pricecraft, Mercury, Yamaha, Indmar, etc.

contact Grant (service manager) service@buckeyemarine.com or 1-877-811-2628

why whats wrong with that dude? if you think carl and john are bad mechanics, you should re-think your statement.

do you mean i should rethink my statement and just say they are bad mechanics? i thought i would put in my 2 cents as low key as possible.
sorry, just my experience.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Looks like this is as tough as finding a good car mechanic...

Does anyone have experience with Gordon Bay Marine? They're also certified and about an hour and a half closer... no idea where to check the top 100 dealers though.

Gordon Bay Marine...

they are pretty good mechanics, prices are average, nothing special, they cater mostly to the well off crowd on Lake Joe and Rosseau etc.

The work they do is fine, no problems with it. The only problem we ever had with them was getting a quote to fix the skeg on our outboard. We asked how much to fix and they said a few hundred, so we said ok. Next thing we know we have a bill close to $1000 for the fix, they never bothered to call to update us on the price and asked if we still wanted to go ahead, pretty shaddy IMO.
