That looks like typical Mead. The only problem with kiting there is the gusts. You will learn the hard way learning to kite there IMO.

The other consideration, especially as you're starting out, is having a nice safe landing area down wind. It would suck big time to drop the kite, not be able to relaunch, maybe get wrapped up in the lines and get dragged into the Hoover Dam. The HoRRoR!!
