how tight should you yighten your bindings

HI all,
I was wondering how tight to were my bindings? I have 04 hyperlite tements. I went out yesterday I had my bindings on I thought they were tight I threw a back roll and one of my feet came out of the binding and the outher stayed in during my fall, I felt something in my ankle pop it wasent real painfull. I was able to remove the binding with out much pain but, I have some swelling and some disscomfert walking. I am not having a good start this year.
