Hey All, How do the mid-90's M.C. Maristar V-drives compare to the other major brand V-drives of that era? I never seem to come across many opinions about them.

Thanks.

To my knowledge, some of the Maristars have the same hulls as the X series boats, they were just geared more towards the pleasure boat market.

I have only ridden behind a Maristar 225 from 95 and it has an unbelievable wakeboarding wake. It also has a very roomy interior. The hull is skiable on a slalom course at 36mph suprisingly enough. 95-97 were glory years for MasterCraft under the management of that time. Get one if you can!

The maristars will have the same hulls as the x10,(maristar 210), x30(MS 230), X80(MS 280). The Prostar 205 has the same hull as the old xstar, x2 and now x1 since 1996. HTH.

Hey there, thanks for the responses, I appreciate your time. Hey Paul, do you recall when/if the Prostar 205 offered a V-drive in the '90s?

Thanks again.

Ryan,I believe it was 1999 that V-Drive was available for the 205.Not a 100% sure tho!

I can't answer that either, but 99 sounds about right.

Hey, thanks again for the responses. Does anyone have an opinion about the Supra Santera v-drive from the late '90s? Hull design? . . etc.
Thanks again.

I have a 2001 and it is the same hull as the SSV or now the 22SSV. In the year I bought they had the tower as a dealer installed option, no ballast system. The only bad thing I have found is that their is no ski locker in the floor for ballast and storage. So your ballast sack will sit on the floor.

just remember none of the Maristars had Skags (tracking fins) Combined with the comfort hulls, Makes the boats a bit more geared towards comfort and less towards all out performance/skiability

the maristar is a good boat, but witout the skegs, it will not turn very sharp, its kinda sluggish, so if you ride where you need to turn around real quick (like a river or something, not powerturning back to a fallen rider...), it isnt going to respond quite as well as a PS205V or SAN.
