Looking at a possible purchase of an axis t22. For the Axis guys what are the must have options on these boats? What are the meh options?

Is the 330 enough power?

We board 100% now but haven't had a surf capable boat so that may change to end of day surfing since surfgate is a must.

We are essentially looking at a more base with the 330 and sound pack 1, chillax, etc or one with the 350 and pretty much optioned out minus it just has sound pack 2

90% of all Axis' have the standard 330hp motor. It's enough if you prop it properly. Get at least the High Alt prop on it.

Chillax, flip-up seat bolster, pop-up cleats, cinch cover, bimini, sound pack 1, plug n play, swivel racks, dual batteries, bluetooth and rearview mirror arm are all must-haves (I might be missing a few). I would skip the sound pack 2 and do your own stereo. How much is the sound pack 2 package anyway?

Way too much. Wanna say it was 2 or 3g but I could be mistaken. I have zero use for those speakers and would prob end up ripping them out anyways. At that point I could have wetsounds and be done all proper like. Both have the heater which I've never had before so have zero clue how useful it is. I normally just use alcolols

no not enough i have the 350 and i wish i had got the 409 and you will want to prop it to the 15x12 acme 2315.

Paul how much weight are you running? Issue with boarding or just surfing?

You will definitely want the heater if you ride early March or late October. It is one of my favorite things on my A22.

Hop over to www.axiswakeboardboats.com and read the forum a little bit. I bet most of your questions about it are already answered there.

I wouldn't recommend the 409. If the 350 doesn't suit your needs then go up to the MarinePower LS3.

The 409 and the 350 have VERY similar torque curves. The 409 really only does better at higher RPM ranges that you'll never see when boarding/surfing. Couple that with the fact that the 409 is an iron block motor and you've just wasted your money.

The standard is enough for me in my A22. I run between 4200 and 5000 lbs consistently and never have any issues. If you prop it correctly and distribute the weight correctly, you should never have an issue.

Agreed. IMO, if you're having issues planing off, then your weight distributions must be all wrong.

I concur. I could do ALOT with that $

As long as you have a bimini, plug n play, stereo pack 1, and surfgate, you're going to be fine. Personally, whether the other options (docking lights, underwater lights, deck track, big stereo, swivel racks, etc.) are worth the money is up to you. I think you'll love the T22.

How much is the 350hp option? Reason I ask is I run around 4000lbs with 5-6 passengers and the 330 with the 2315 does an amazing job.

Not sure would have to check. The price gap on the two boats is roughly 5k in options. Id assume a mass of that was engine but can check the sheet when I get home. If the 330 works I see no issue. I highly doubt we'll be running 4000lbs

That's what we all said lol. Once you figure your crew, cooler, gear, etc...that's over 1000lbs of additional weight plus any ballast you fill and account for using the wedge. You can talk any dealer to upgrade the 330 to the 350 at dealer cost. Prop is the key...2315

Yea problem is I'm really looking between 2 boats. Was told if I ordered new I'm looking at july at the earliest for spray. Essentially ends my season. The 350 is 1350 bucks for the upgrade. I wouldn't see that as an issue at all but one is also tied to upgrades of sound pack 2, led lighting, tatmini floor, etc to the tune of about 5k. Was just trying to figure out if any of those other add ons are worth an almost extra 10% on the boat cost or if there were other things that would push me torwards just ordering new and dealing with a lost season on it.

With that kind of spray date, I would wait for the 2015s to come out. They should start hitting the local showroom floors at the end of July.

aren't they jacking like 6% a year too?

Most Brands are building the next year models by July. I personally would not custom order a current year model built that late as by the time you get it and put it in the water its a year old boat you just paid new price for.

Cory, which two boats are choosing between? The Green/white and the black/yellow?

you're really the only one that can answer the question of value. The Tatami mat is cool, but mine was getting pretty hot in the 90* temps. Sound pack 2 might be able to be parted out and sold to help with the upgrade. To be honest, I might be interested in some bits of it. LED lighting isn't a very expensive option so i'd like to have that

Sounds like the bullk of the extra cost is in the stereo and the motor.

We had 3 axis A22s from 2010 to 2012. This is an honest opinion from the dad of a family of pretty good wake boarders. The 2010 had the 335. That is the equivalent of the 350 Monsoon engine today. (not sure if Axis calls it the Monsoon). It was pretty under powered for the way that we used the boat. The same engine in our 2007 Malibu VLX is pretty darn good. The problem is that the Axis is a comparatively light boat. It floats like a cork, and you need lots of weight to get a good wake.

The 2011 had the Raptor 400 horse motor. Still underpowered. Not really much difference between that and the 335 getting out of the hole. See previous comments about torque curves etc.
I wouldn't spend any extra money on this motor. I'm not sure what they call this motor today.

When we got the LS3 on the 2012, It was the first time I thought the Axis was a good wake boat. Plenty of power. It burns no more gas than the other motors as the time getting out of the hole is greatly reduced. You can literally run enough weight to sink the boat if you don't come off plane properly, so be careful.

The T22 has essentially the same running surface as the A22 I believe, so I believe this input should be valid. Plug and play is a must have!

Conclusion: If you want a really good wake for high level wakeboarding, get the LS3. If you want a decent wake for recreational wakeboarding, get the 350. If you want the best wake boat money can buy, get a G23.

Yea I like it. Alison loves it! Obviously I have a crush on black/yellow though. Plus I have disease that requires money to be surgically removed from my wallet when needed.

Owning a boat will cure you of that quickly

T22 is not the same running surface as the A22. It's close, but not the same. The wake is not as peaky.

Also not sure why the motor would affect the wake

Get a 5 blade or 1237 and you'll be fine

I just spoke to a friend of mine who runs a T22. He said that, with the 5 blade prop or the torque prop, the 330 actually does just fine in this boat. I wanted to pass that on.

Acme 1235. Any more aggressive pitch than that and the RPMs spin pretty high and it burns a lot of gas. We tried several more aggressive props, and really it became counterproductive to have a more aggressive pitch.
