You should look for either a Prostar 190 -or- a Sport Nautique. They both can make pretty good wakes if you load them down.

The older Mastercraft Prostar's, proskiers (their only boat in the 84, 85 time period), or the Tristar (late 80s, early 90's) work great as ski/board boats. Just be careful to get a good tower mounting system if you get one, cause the old decks were never designed with a tower in mind...

My buddy is selling his 88 or 89 Mastercraft Prostar 190 for I believe $7,800 or so. It has a sweet sound system and runs great. Of course you're up in WA so I guess that doesn't help you a whole lot (So. CA). But I would agree with the others on their suggestions.

You can pick up an early 90's Malibu in perfect condition for that price. They put out a great wake when loaded, and handle really well also. Check out boattraderonline.com. If you're willing to travel a little, you can find a really nice Malibu.

Do a search through the archives, there are some really nice older boats that throw great wakes with weight added in the price range. All of the above are great boats and in your range.

Ben, all last year I was looking for the perfect 10K boat. After three boat shows, 1000hrs on WW, & looking at countless "mint" condition boats, my wife got tired and said ok to a new boat. The rates are super low, terms are looong, & the payment stays low. If you and your dad are splitting the bill thats $175/mo ea for a new V210. Waaaay more room than any of the 10K boats I could find. Extended 5yr warranty. Tower, racks, cover, and more. Look for the boat show specials!!!!! Good luck.

Wes, I had the same problem. I looked at tons of other peoples crap and got so tired of driving from Sac to L.A that I just ended up purchasing a new one. It's very difficult to find a quality used boat over a couple of years old. B-
