Went to see my "baby" today and they had the tower and most of the stereo installed.

12" sub in a custom built box

CD changer is "in dash" down by the drivers feet

Top left is the tower volume control, the middle is the EQ and the bottom right is the sub volume control.

One of the 3 amps that will be installed to run the system.

Gramps - that is the same sub I run in my boat, you should be very happy with it. I also run a 400 and 600 crossfire amps.

Very Nice. Really like the blue and white with the blue FCT.
Makes my 2000 SAN look pretty boring - especially since I still have the stock tunes in it. Maybe its time to upgrade... )

Looks like the speakers are oriented to point
directly at the rider when the boat is pitched
at it's wakeboard speed. Nice planning!
Are they adjustable? If not, what angle is
best for a permanent install?
I'm planning to re-do my tower setup.
Old    akman            04-04-2003, 7:16 AM Reply
Swass, we bought a truck last weekend! We were planning on waiting until this summer but moved it up due to the accident.

Sandy, yes the speakers are pointed a little upward so that at wakeboard speeds they will be level. The two outside cans are pointed a little to the side too so that you can hear it while you are cutting away from the boat, and yes they are adjustable.

He's a huge UCLA fan. I had to talk him out of a yellow accent stripe, yellow speakers, and yellow flight clips. J/k

I am going down to see the boat in person this morning. I can hardly wait!

WHY WHY WHY. Did they mount your EQ and Bass control where they did. Not only does it look horrable It's going to get all wet when you put your Boards on the Rack's????????? Plus they screwed in to you Nice New Vynl?? Why did they Mount you CD changer where you get a great chance to Kick it???? GRAMPS what UP?? I hate to be Negatieve. You have sutch a nice boat I hate it when I see Install's that look like they didnt think before installing, Your Amp board looks great and so does your sub If you had a Moomba I would never say anything it would be ok

Wow Grant, way to throw stones. For someone who hates to be negative, your words sure did flow.

Gramps and Laura are proud new owners of an awesome boat and shouldn't give damn what others think, as long as they are happy with it.

Well, I got my first in-person look at the boat this morning. As expected, the pictures do NOT do it justice. The pictures look great, but this is really a beautiful boat.

For the thousandth time, congrats to Aki and Laura on their beautiful new baby.

Grant,
I kinda take some offense to your words "If you had a Moomba I would never say anything"

That is a pretty thoughtless comment considering some of us here own Moomba's.
Old     (salty87)      Join Date: Jul 2002       04-04-2003, 1:20 PM Reply
why even acknowledge grant's comments? he could have said it looks great, it does.

why would you even care what he thinks about moomba's? i can take a fairly good guess that it'll be negative too.

What kind of Speakers do you have on the tower? GO BRUINS!!!!

Salty87,

It's not that I care so much what Grant thinks, it was just a totally thoughtless comment that he could have done without, especially since he can't even list the kind of boat he owns in his profile. I am sure his comments on Moombas would be negative which is fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Gramps new ride sure does look good though.

Moomba sucks almost as bad as CC.

Anyone who would buy a CC is stooooopid. I bet their feet smell, too.

Here is a pic of Uncle Bill's boat. Pretty bare still! He said he's going to feel really funny writing a check for the first payment when it hasn't even seen the water yet!

Well I wasn't going to respond to Grant's questions but why not!?!

Grant the changer is where I think it is the most practical, if it were under the observers seat it would SKIP since the sub is in there. I can't mount it to the left side wall of where the drivers legs go because that is where the HELM ballast control is. The next place would be under another seat, so if I wanted to change discs I would have to have people move. I'm not tall and I have the same group of people drive the boat so it's not a big deal.

As far as the EQ well it is again in a practical place TO ME I can see it and I can reach all the controls on it.

As for it getting wet......well it may or it may not. I don't like water dripping on me when I drive so I usually put a towel on the bottom of the board while it is in the rack, so again no big deal.

It is all in how you see things and in my eyes everything is where I can get to it with little or no trouble at all.

The bottom line is it shouldn't matter to you since YOU WONT BE IN IT!!!!!!

The tower as you all see it doesn't have any color in it to break up "all the blue" well with graphics, flight clips, bimini, and speaker covers it will give the tower and boat some contrast.

I will post some pictures of it when it is done next week. The tower speakers won't be done until next week, Boss shipped them out today and they will put them in the cans next week.

flame on..........

Gramps you are mistaken about your changer. My Clarion changer in the Alpina was mounted in a compartment with three subs and 1000 watts going to them and it never skipped.

Your boat looks great as long as your happy that's all that matters.

ARE YOU PLANNING ON MAKING IT TO SHASTA???? I have not heard anything from you. If not let's plan a trip in Sept. it's an awesome time to go.

See Grant? You could have nicely asked those questions about Gramps' stereo and he would have given you his reasons for where he put the components. Instead, you made an ass out of yourself. I hope you learned your lesson.

Brian, Bill's boat looks sweet. I think it is really cool that Aki/Laura and Bill chose such contrasting color schemes and they both turned out very, very nice. I can't wait to see Bill's boat all finished! Maybe next month!

I hope you are kidding about the payment. If not, Bill should be asking the dealer and/or CC to make that payment for him.

dang Andre is so cool, I want to be like him when I grow up.

Wilson - you're totally right bro, it is gramps world, and grant isn't it. I must say if Gramp's world was my world, I would have taken a little more care with the placement of my high dollar audio components.

Gramps - I can see you're point of putting the tower speaker volume near you, that is something that may need constant adjustment. In some cases I would want the SUB control near me, and sometimes not. As for the EQ, I would want that in a place away from peoples wandering hands and any chance of water. Once you get the EQ where you want it, you shouldn't have to touch it for a while. As for the CD changer, isn't the point of a CD changer so you don't have to mess with it? Just throw some CD's in at the beginning of the day and leave it. I also wouldn't want anyone drilling into my vinyl either. Just my opinion, I guess I just ruined all my chances of getting a pull behind your boat huh?

Gramps, your new boat is stunning ... and this is coming from a guy who just dropped a wad of cash on a new VLX. I'm in awe!
Old    akman            04-05-2003, 9:27 PM Reply
Thane in theory you are correct, once you set the levels you shouldn't have to touch it. What you don't realize is how it is set up.........the EQ for ME can control the amount of sound in the 4 speakers in the rear of the boat, I can bring the level up or down as I want. I also listen to all different types of music so I like to adjust the sounds. The tower speaker control can also take the volume up or down as I please. What you can't see is exactly where this is located, the picture does not do it justice as far as how far tucked under and forward it is, water will not drip down on it so it won't get wet

Since it is my so called "high dollar audio equipment" I put it where I wanted it. I think if you could see it in person you would agree it is out of the way and will not be a problem.

Grant/Thane to each his own.......you do what you want with yours and I will do what I want with mine.

Well we went out today and spent 5 hours on the water, we had wet boards put on the drivers side all morning and.........

Not one drop of water ended up on the EQ!!!

I had drivers of all sizes from 6'7", 6', and 5' 8" and you know what?? Just as I thought nobody kicked the CD Changer, it was not an issue!!!

The stereo sounds AWESOME and it all worked out as I planned.

So for those of you so concerned.....WHATEVER!!!!!
