Spacers w/ binding screws

I just got a pair of Nice bindings and I am mounting them on a Hyperlite board. The screws seem to be a bit short when I use the plastic spacers but they do screw down w/out the spacers. Is it ok to NOT use the spacers or will I end up hurting the binding and/or board. Do I need to get longer screws or ditch the spacers?

if you ditch the plastic spacers the washer will rub on the binding and leave a scuff mark. If that's no big deal for you then ditch the spacer. If it is a big deal to you then I would get some longer screws.
