Just got back from the VTC here in Indy. Overall it was a fantastic day...just caught the wakeskating and mens wakeboarding.

Off the top of my head, my impressions of the "overall" event itself...

The Good:
- Amazing water conditions and weather
- The riding on both wakeskating and wakeboarding was fantastic - alot of guys going big
- Exhibition setup/parking/boat vendors etc. setup was done very well.
- Price was good - $5 to get in and the standard buck or two for food items
- Surprisingly, I like the riding/scoring format, as much as I could tell what it was...
- Park's and Shane's Mom was chatting to my wife about her(my wife's) pregnancy - She IS as nice as everyone says.

The bad:
- You have to first wait in line to buy tickets and then use the tickets to buy food....worst setup I have ever seen
- The announcing was horrible...half the time, they were not paying attention to that fact that anyone had left the starting dock. If you did hear the name of the rider, it was'nt until they were 3/4 of the way down the course. Spent most of the time making small talk that should have been filler between riders.
- They had the announcer booth right next to the water, which made it almost impossible to see the entire course - move it back 30 feet and you have a less obstructed view. (this may have been a necessity based on the location, but I don't think so)

The ugly:
-A few sightings of "mature" women wearing outfits designed to fit their college aged granddaughters.
-A couple of mullet sightings.

Overall it was fantastic event, and would encourage any wakeboarder to make it out there...its great inspiration to push yourself next time your on the water.

Great job to everyone involved!!

Your right about the announcing, it sucked. At the end it started to get better. They did have pamphlets to tell you who was next off the dock but you shouldn't have to look at them all the time.( I was trying to control my kids and couldn't look at it.) You would hear him up there giggling and then he wouldn't say anything. Like i said though. It did get a little better later. Gladly that was the ONLY thing that was bad. The event was SWEET. I met Parks, Shaun and lloyd (lloyd snatched my camcorder and started shooting shaun and i talking), Zane Swenk(sp?) Zane saw my brother and his son hanging around waiting to talk to him. So zane came over to his son and started messing with him. That was very cool. Also met Shawn Watson, Dallas Friday, Trevor Hanson, Tara Hamilton, Ricky Gonzolaz, Gator, Leslie, Froggy, Tadpole (Tadpole saw my brothers six year old walking around at the hotel with his new board and he called us in there so he could sign it. He seemed alot more into it than froggy did.) We also met Brian Grubb who my wife thinks has GEORGEOUS eyes.
I talked to Lloyd Murray about the back yard tour. It sounds like it's ALOT of fun. What sucks is i won't be able to go! It's my girls first day of school. I've thought about calling the school and having them change the day but i don't think they'll go for it. :-)
Loved the layout of the event, Didn't see any mullets or skantily clad mature women. Maybe i just blocked it from my memory.

VTC was awesome!!! I was out there with some buddies Saturday as well. We picked up a ton of free goods and the "eye candy" was...well...superb. I didn't personally talk to any of the pros, but I saw most of them through the course of the day.

I have to say, Emily Copeland is even hotter in person. Did she get married or something, what is with the hyphenated last name (Copeland-Durham)? She is only like 19, way to young to get hitched.

Anyhow, I loved the format, I went to the Pro Tour 2 years ago and this event seemed much more laid back and the riders seemed like they had much more fun out on the water. Did you guys see Parks' nasty between-his-legs backside boardslide on the flat rail on the end of his second pass on Saturday? That was wicked! I have a sweet shot of that on my digi cam, I will post some of those later when I get them downloaded and shrunk to fit on this website. Peace.
