Hello WakeWorld brethren, I got some questions for the folks that frequent the country's cable parks.

I got a buddy who for his bachelor party wants to head to one of the countries cable parks. It would be in mid-May so we are thinking McCormicks, OWC or TSR. We are thinking it will be a whirlwind weekend Thursday-Sunday with the emphasis on riding the park. No need for strippers, just a place to get homeboy sauced after a day of riding! Walking to the park would be clutch.

We are trying to do this on the cheap as work has been tight for everyone. What are your suggestions for location, place to stay and all that? Appreciate all suggestions.

you can do OWC and McCormicks in the same day.

then just stay in Orlando or Tampa, get nightlife at both places... tons to do there

TSR is minutes away from Austin TX. The live music capital of the world! Going out here in TX is much cheaper than other places, plus you wouldn't have to travel nearly as far. Not to mention TSR is a kick a$$ cable park. I've never been to McCormicks, but I have heard great things about it. I'm not a fan of OWC at all.

The Projects then rally to Tampa for McCormicks, drive back to Orlando, get your party on and then hit OWC the next day.

Staying within walking distance of any of these places is not gonna happen.

BIG Heavy - 1st things frist your profile pic. what boat is making that wake, how much ballast is making that wake and include peeps in the boat, and last what rope length is that and what speed? holy crap that wake looks tight and you are being booted :-)

1.) Wakenation newest and best set-up (mid may plenty warm)
2.) TSR much like Wakenation in size but more open to wind.
3.) McCormics has an island and is set up for regular stance riders cool.

Good luck on hotels they all suck in that respect. getting your drink on any one of these areas is fine i am sure.

If you decided to head down here to Tampa at McCormick's Cable Park you are also able to stay on site and we will pick you up and drop you off at the airport + 3 meals a day

i fly back and forth from CA to OH and for a short trip like this i would suggest staying as close to CA as possible. TSR would be my first choice. LIke Benjamin said Austin is right around the corner and there's plenty of trouble to get into in Austin. and if you've never been it will quickly become one of your favorite cities...

I reccommend OWC. Not to mention you have the projects nearby and Mcormiks. All of those places are dope! As far as strippers go, if you go to orlando stay away from OBT!! ha ha!!!

Thanks guys & gals, I appreciate all the recommendations. It sounds like each one has its merits, just gotta find the one that suits us best. I think my buddy has his heart set on heading to Orlando so we shall see. Probably wouldn't travel to another park, but would like to take a boat set wherever we go.

jim, the boat in that picture is a Sanger V210. We had her fairly well sacked out(nose heavy) and full of 11 people. Rope is probably 80' and we are probably going 24.5. I have a hard time remembering as that was literally 4 years ago. My friends say I get good pop.

TSR def gives you some options for when you are not riding.

Tubing on the Guadalupe is a local favorite, and there is always plenty of talent out.

I live in Austin and its always live.

Lake Austin has a great wake & party scene, and Devils Cove on Lake Travis is a notorious landing zone for the derty birds.

Goto McCormick and stay at the hardrock hotel and casino which is two exits from the mccormicks exit. You will have the best of both worlds; wakeboarding and then boozing/gambling.

Hey Texas people, whats the weather like out there in nov-dec and is there other cables out there besides TSR?
Old     (bendow)      Join Date: Sep 2005       10-15-2009, 4:05 PM Reply
There is know way of telling with TX weather. It can be in the 90's or 20's. We have the most unpredictable weather ever. It's generally in the 50's in that time frame though. TSR is the only cable until the one near FT Worth opens, which is supposed to be soon.

Also, I may be being bias since I live close to Austin and TSR is my home cable, but my friends used to go to Florida every year for vacation. I convinced them to come to TX and go out in Austin. They raved about how much more fun they had in Austin than FL. Plus 6th street is nuts.

WakeSport Ranch will be open here in the next few weeks, if the rain stays away.
Looks like no rain for next week, so that is great!
