So jr (romes) got me thinking in J-Rods "shorts" thread, what every one in his crew does first trick off the Dock. This should be interesting becuase most people seem to always a "first trick" just to get the feel of the wake and the pull! For me its a Melon Crow everysingle time, then a Method as big as I can go. Coin Ryan's (this has some WOW factor) Every time he startes with a Roast Beef Glide to Switch. Sean Barret a tail poke. Jay (ironjay) I am going to have to say Stalefish poke.

before the boat is up to speed: stale 180 off one wake, and more recently backroll off one wake up to speed: big hs jump w/ grab (varies everytime)

lately its been a big tail poke but for a good part of the summer the starting sequence was a HS3 to a TS3 to a Backroll, then TS5, switch TS180 and then whatever...

In a contest its usually a half cab, for me, falling on a half cab is like not getting up. Freeriding I startin doin a one wake t/s b/s 180 because theyre fun and still kinda cool lookin and I'm still tryin to do them w2w. (Message edited by hawk7 on September 23, 2008)

I am kind of superstitious about doing some big carves, regular and switch, then just follow through on one in a big straight air, then do the same thing on the other side but with a switch straight air. After that, just kill it. I think I am copying Murray from a demo day back in the 90's I went to.

Hrmm, I'm not good, but I usually start with a re-entry (or is it just an ollie) to boardslide or an inside out 180 (I'm at a beginner skill level, but both of those are super fun!)

I get up switch and carve heelside to my left. Then I do a surface 180 and then edge heelside as hard as I can and do an air off the start-up wake. This has been almost every time for me recently. Maybe I need to change it up! Then I have to do some carves and ollies to loosen up the knees. I can't just start throwing stuff...I guess I'm old.

My first trick off the dock is typically a fall trying to dock start followed by get up and HS 180 off the startup roller, butterslide, set up for first w2w and then a HS roast beef stiffy.

Daren Wickum (gopher) "faceplant" My favorite answer so far! I'm too old to not make sure my legs are working that day so I almost always start with some big carves on each side and some kind of backside slide while the boat is getting up to speed. Then usually some H.S. air with a tail grab/poke. If I'm determined to land a new trick and not play the mental game of thinking about it, that may be my first anything once I'm up. Just to prove to myself that it didn't hurt and I'm capable.

My kid will sometimes try to throw a tantrum off the start up roller, but not every time. After adjusting my shorts, I will slash the wake, ollie to board slide on the wake, then some HS grab.

i usually do a little bank drop thing into the downside of the wake heelside and take a couple soul turns or butter slides to calm me down or work out the pre-ride shivers i get later in the season.

My buddy pees on his board right after he's strapped in while on the swim deck...I think that sh*t is gross...but still does it. First trick is stale-poke to the flats everytime.

I always start with simple hs w2w to make sure the wake is where I want it. Then a few more w2w hs jumps to get loosened up. Then I perform my only other trick in my bag(for now) which is ts 180 off one wake, which I usually start to spin right off the wake and crash cuz I'm an idiot. Still working on waiting it out off the wake. Also still working on ts w2w and riding switch. Kids love to watch dad crash, and I hate to leave them disappointed.

Usually carve around a little...ollie 180, ts indie, hs stale poke, then whatever I feel like...that's why wakeboarding is so great...nobody tells you what to do or how to do it...unless you ask...lol
