Lake Havasu?

What is the water temp at Lake Havasu in mid April? Was thinking of taking a trip down there for a week. How is the lake for wakeboarding?

How is Lake Mohave at that time too? Is it cold?

i was at havasu a couple years ago for spring break. the water temp wasn't too bad. i'm not sure what exactly it was but probably around 75 or so. the water was really rough that week. i'm not sure how it is on a non holiday week or weekend.

Not sure about Lake Havasu conditions, but I have heard the Colorado River around Yuma, Az(not too far south from Havasu) is sweet. Not a whole lot of places to stay though. Planning to meet friends there in April as well. Hope it's as good as they say...long straight runs..smooth water and in the mid 70's. Anyone else ride by Yuma?

Lake Havasu should be around 75`F then. The water during the week will be pretty good, head to the southern end of the lake, towards Black Meadow Landing. Weekends are pretty busy, but if its after Spring Break it may not be that bad. It jsut depends on air temps then. I lived there for several years and Mar and April were hit and miss. I remember the weather being hot one year and raining the next.

Lake Mohave is definitely less crowded, but it gets real windy. Best place to stay is Laughlin, NV. Lake Mohave is about 1-1/2 hours from Havasu.

bryan i live in yuma and can set you up with whatever info you need, and give you a quick tour of the riding areas. there are more places to stay in yuma than in havasu thats for sure(well within 30 minutes of the water but there are plenty of places to rent on the water too).

Alan, thanks for the response. We are thinking of coming in April 21st morning. As far as places to stay...were camping on the river(tents and small trailer) Hoping to miss any spring break boat traffic for the best water. Definetly interested in a tour of riding areas and hooking up with some local boarders.

no problem. see you guys when you get in town. i dont know where you guys are planning to stay but i would recommend stay at in the lake martinez area not shaw lake. the best riding areas are near lake martinez/fergueson. if you need any other info about the area let me know

I've done Havasu and the Parker Strip aplenty. Never been and want to get out to Martinez at least several times this year. Is Martinez Lake Resort the only choice to stay (hotel room or trailer, not camping) on or near the water?

I've heard that this place is a little rough around the edges (no problem for the boys & me but more-so with the girlfriend along). Also, I'd rather not be 30 min. away in Yuma.

Alan is definately a good guy to hook up with out there as I met up with him last year. He was nice enough to give us the tour. I might add the boy definatlely has some skills behind the boat! The water is just fantastic but there are a lot of hazards that you need to learn about out there. As far as accomidations, unless you are into camping the link you have is basically it! A 30 min drive is worth it if it means keeping your sweetie happy.

Anybody going to be in havasu for spring break? This will be my third year going and it just keeps getting better ill be there the 10th-17th of march

Everytime I have been there it has been blown out and windy...couldn't wakeboard and barely made it back with the white caps...but it's great for going to the sandbar and tubing.

Yeah, I hear ya on the hazards. A buddy of mine bent his drive shaft running aground on a sand bar. Kind of freaks me out and that's one of the reasons why I haven't made the effort yet. Still... it's about time.

andy there are plenty of places in hidden shores that are rentable and are generally a little nicer and more family oriented. the trade off is that youre a 15-20 minute boat ride from the riding spots. there are houses also for rent at lake martinez too. the places at lake martinez arent the greatest from what ive seen but the g/f could probably get by for a weekend. you can stay out in the foothills which puts you about 20/25 minutes from the water. but there are a couple of hotels there, cheap gas for the boat and a few restaurants. there are some sandbars and some other hazards. i'd be more than happy to show you the hazards(there really arent that many) and you can also use the tried and true method of following other wakeboard boats. if you come out, let me know. im usually out every weekend.

If your not afraid of a little colder water I would recommend coming to Mohave and if it is blown out you can ride on the river. Mohave will be in the 70's where as the river will be mid 60's. The advantage of the river is you can always find good water even when the wind is blowing. There are a few spots on the lake I could show you that are always good but you have a short shot and then you have to turn around. Hit me up if you want some more info or need a third when heading this way.

I've done the River just south of Mohave staying at the Avi Resort & Casino (nice place for kids & family). We brought our i.o. there a few years back and chewed through a prop pretty good. The river rises & falls so much each day and along with the gravel} bars which we ran aground on nearly a handful of times, the River between Bullhead City/Laughlin and Needles scares the hell out of me with an inboard. As much as we love staying at the Avi, I'm not eager for my Sanger to see that section of the river.

Mohave we don't know yet either. To stay on the water, between Katherine's Landing and Cottonwood Cove, which do you recommend?

Mike- What kinda plans do you have lined up so far (accomodations, boat)? I've been for spring break as well, definitely a good time. I could be down to roll out on the weekend toward the end of your time there.

We always stay at the london bridge this year is no exception, were taking my super air out for the week and we keep it docked at the london bridge resort. We have a 4 person beer bong for the tower as well.

What dates you all thinking about going for? I am putting something together for the weekend of the 16th since I will be there for the Works motocross race. Why not bring the boat too right? Last year we had the truck LOADED down. 6 people, 1 dog, 3 bikes, ice chests, gear, food, and the boat.

my 2 favorite riding locations in Havasu are the red lines in these pictures. They stay pretty glassy, unless you're there on a drunk-guy weekend in the middle of the summer.

And yeah, the shallow water is hella scary. I was riding in the bow one time going up towards "the sandbar" and you could see the bottom right under you! Apparently the depth finder was reading 2' and we were not going slow. I was majorly freaked out, because if we hit something, I've heard of passengers getting ejected forward upon initial impact, only to then have the boat run them over as it kept going. We were all freaked out and decided to skip the sandbar and just roll to one of the major party canyons.

Good advice though about following other boats.

yup I'm back woo hoo! And yeah, I know you weren't gonna let me get ejected (scenes from Top Gun are running through my head with that word). At least I would get run over by a super sweet boat! haha. But yeah, I'm glad we turned around, can't go wrong with beloved Steamboat Canyon Maybe next time we will follow right behind other boats... and if its all bad, they will hit something before us
