It's that time of year again. The Riders Choice Awards will throw down during August and we need to make sure we've covered all the bases. We need your nominations for the "Innovation of the Year" category.

This is for items that have come to market in the last 12 months and have significantly advanced wakesports. Let's hear what you've got. Thanks for you help.

"Pure Vert" ballast systems are the number one most important innovation. Sure Calabria and MB have been doing them for a while, but since it seems that other manufacturers are coming aboard, some credit is due!

I'm getting nothing from y'all??? Come on, there has to be some innovations that have made you say "WOW" over the past year. A couple I can think of is the new gas-assisted tower from Malibu and the Boost Box volume attenuator. Think about your favorite boat and/or board company and what they've brought to the table this year.

Alan, Pure Vert was in the running years ago when it first came out. We're looking for stuff that was introduced over the last 12 months.

Go Pros have been out for awhile. We used them for go karting in the past 3 years. Go Pro HD is new, but I wouldn't call it "innovative".

Go pro cameras? They've been around for years.

I can;t think of any innovations for 2010, but 2011 should bring some great stuff.

cwb's updated hinge is pretty sick, maybe integrated tower cameras (Was MC the first one? I know Malibu is coming out with one next year). Other than that I cannot think of much.

Tige touch system has my vote, I know others have introduced touch screens but not that integrate everything so well.

I hate to be negative, but I don’t see any real innovation over the last 12 months except for the Shadowbox (never used it, but it looks cool). Hasn’t the Boost Box been out for years and is it a big improvement over the HSE? Most boat companies seem to be going in the wrong direction (you can keep your touch screens) and gear seems to improve slowly over time. I feel flex boards & the "hybrid" tech is innovation but it slowly gets better every year.

Liquid Force Quick Lace System was a new innovation for boots this year

"Liquid Force Quick Lace System was a new innovation for boots this year"

Yeah, but that innovation gets overridden by those crappy air pockets they put in their boots. Plus, I think quick lace was on some of the 2009 LTD boots.

Nope, the quick lace system wasnt on any 2009 boots... the quick lace system doesnt have anything to do with the air pockets (which I still think are awesome even though I go through plenty of boots)

Anyways, they were new this year, therefore theyre an innovation....

Yeah, but an innovation should be the ENTIRE binding, not just the laces. And those air pockets are a good concept, but impossible to implement.
Old     (BigTEX)      Join Date: Feb 2010       08-01-2010, 8:52 PM Reply
They don't even have the quick lace for next year so obviously it wasn't very innovative...

Though PureVert wasn't developed this year, it seems this was the year it got a lot of buzz and is by far a more signifiant innovation over other things listed.

Ronix (s)Cintered fins for hitting sliders. Basically makes any board in their lineup a good slider board

I don't understand this, when Correct Craft came out with the cable-assisted tower in 2009, so my grandma could lower the tower with one finger, it was no big deal. Now Malibu does it, it's the innovation of the year?

I am going to change my nominaiton to the Epic 21se and 23e hybrids. Certainly not mainstream now but they are thinking a lot bigger than tweaking a tower or changing up the display.

Its not really a product...but 2010 was definitely the year of web-isodes and short wake vids.

Sam what do you expect.. this is MalibuWorld.... For example, notice how if you read the Riders Choice Awards under "boat of the year" Mastercraft isnt listed as an example... even though its won around 6 years in a row! Hey, but at least Malibu is listed as an example
Stay classy Dave!
