Just put my new X-30 in the water. Tower seems to have a fair amount of play from side to side. I added a tower to my last boat (SeaRay 220)and it was rock solid on the boat. Have not boarded yet since I'm going in for the 10 hr service and want them to take a look. Is this normal and what was intended? - not sure what is meant then by zero-flex tower.

There is a brace for 08 that can be put on your 07. It blends in nicely.

My tower sways enough that It has cracked my two outboard Pro-80's. I was told it was less rigid to help alleviate the stress cracks around the mounts. I'd also love to see some pics of this brace!

Re 10 hr service, was told the boat comes with a thinner oil than that to be used ongoing. They are supposed to prime the ballast pumps as well.

David I haev never heard of such a thing...thinner oil for hte first 10 hours. And the priming the ballast pumps is total B.S. Your ballast pumps will prime on their own.

We've had 2 new Xstars and 2 X-2 over the last 3 years. Two of the boats have had NVS' hanging from them along with lights. It has never been a problem, and no braces were every needed. That sounds uneccesary

Re 10 hr service. It is usually 20 hrs service is when they recommend it. but I had mine done at ten hour since it was in the shop anyways for some warranty repair work. They do an oil change mainly.

I must be the only one that likes the 07 tower. I think it functions great and hasn't shown much flex, though I don't have speakers, lights, flags, stripper poles, etc... And I love the fact that it is all pre-wired up if I was ever so inclined to add any of that stuff.

It will be closer to 20 hrs by the time I get it in. Will have a long list of fixes. Lesson learned - don't rush the dealer to get your boat ready. But, I was eager to get it on the water this last weekend.

The brace is on a 2008 Tower and there are only a few minor differences from it to an 07. Haven't checked to see if it will fit an 07 yet. Should, but not sure!

I like my 07 tower. No shakes. I had a long list of little repair items as well and my dealer was not rushed at all. I have since sent a letter to the QC dept of MC headquarters as mine had some manufacturing flaws that should have been caught before leaving the factory. They agreed with me.

That tower is ghetto. That's like putting a sidecar on a motorcycle, just plain stupid looking.

Waterfreak, do you have tower speakers? Have you driven in serious chop? Your tower will shake. Watch the 2007 MC DVD, you can see the CSX tower shake and bake like Michael Vick. The more weight on a MC tower, the more it will shake like Byrd's..... I personally think the new towers shake more than the old towers that came out in 2005. If anyone from MC reads this, Please FIX YOUR FUTURE TOWERS. I know it's probably fine, it's just annoying to be driving a boat, look up and watch your tower shake like a skyscraper in an earthquake.....

I have an '07 X-1 and the tower did not sway much until I had a couple of pro-80's installed. Now when you go over a wake the tower definitely sways. Also, Mastercraft does recommend a 10 hr break-in period and in the manual they state that it is a different oil that is used during the break-in period. Basically the only maintenance they perform is the oil change at 10 hours.

My dealer emailed me and recommended I get this put on my 45. My tower does shake a good bit. I may get it put on on my 70 hr service... see how much of a difference it makes. At least they're giving it to me for free. Well kinda...

Nick, is that picture of an Xstar tower? I noticed that the bimini attaches directly to the tower where as on my 45 it is independent. I wonder if there would be any interference with bimini operation on mine? I think the Xstar and X80 have different towers than the rest of MC's line up.

The pictures were taken from a 2008 X-2. For 2008 MasterCraft has introduced a new bimini. The new bimini mounts on the face of the tower legs, and attaches in the rear by wraping around the main hoop of the tower. Very similar to the bimini that was used on the 2003 X-Stars. It's a nice design and it gives you a little more head height that the previous biminis. As far as the support brace working with the 2007 bimini's that is something that I have not looked into yet. I'll check into that but I would like to think that MasterCraft intended this support to be able to fit their 2007 towers as well since there were only minor changes to the 2008 tower design.

bryan.... no I don't have any speakers on so that is probably the reason why mine doesn't shake. I am going to be adding them soon however. I have driven in serious chop and it sways a little currently.

I can't tell for sure from the pictures, but I believe the brace would sit behind the bimini on the '07 X-30 so would not impede it.

4 speakers + 4 boards + rough water = a lot of tower shake on my '06 X-45 Don't care for the looks of the "fix", but I will inquire with my dealer

My CSX 07 tower shakes a lot too; I don't really trust it. Does anyone of you know if these towers should not be used for barefoot waterskiing?

Mike, are you serious about the stainless steel suggestion? That would be like a $10,000 tower.

Marc if you have a ski pylon anywhere in the boat I would use that instead of the tower. Any by the way nice looking CSX.
