Its like the 70s all over again. Gas prices are going through the roof and the american companies are focused on bigger gas guzzling boats (xstar, LSV and 25' boats). It seems like a good time for a wakeboard boat start up - put the toyota motor in the SAN hull with the VLX interior. The only boat any serious wakeboarder would ever need!

all any of the boats need is the 2-speed trany that is in the MB's. Save 30% on fuel consuption. and you dont actually think that your ideal boat could get up to speed do you.

On the other list, my signature says, "at 4 gph, who cares about $3 gas?" Probly burn more fuel getting to the lake than towing on it. Would be cool to pick up some Boeing guys and have them build a hull from the wake forward using REAL fluid dynamics software/knowhow. Then we put a Duramax in it and call it good. And have the Toy guys come back to do what they do best - make it look good and last a long time.

gas may be higher, but think of it, even if it is a dollar higher per gallon and u get 4 gallons an hour you only spend an extra $400 if u put 100 hours on the boat. This may seem like a ton to some, but take that the average wakeboard boat costs say 40,000 and a good board with bindings is over 400, it is not that bad for something you enjoy, just make sure your friends throw in for some gas...Where i am at it really doesn't matter since most people get around 35 hours a season on their boats so they really aren't seeing that drastic a change.

Forgot to say, but I heard that their is gonna be a new vlx for 05 that will be both longer and wider, and also is supposed to have something like 1300 lbs of ballast in it and a new hull, so we will see.

Up front costs are different from running costs. Running costs are on the crew. Up front costs are on the owner.

I rode a Toyota epic last week with 2000 pounds +/- and it was tough waiting to finally get to speed after 30-45 seconds. I don't know if other prop or engine options would make a difference, but the engine was very anemic with that setup. Otherwise the fit and finish and the wake were excellent!

Here in BC CAD we are paying $4.00CAD a gallon which is about $3.00US and that's at the car pumps.I'd hate to see what it's gonna be at the marinas.

I had to post...I love the title of this thread!!! I had my Toyota out at Lake Pateros, WA the weekend, and with about 5 people wakeboarding for 2 days. We used about 3/4 of a tank for the whole time. We did some cruising and running around to find good water, also. Most of the time, we were running with about 2300-2400 pounds in the boat (ballast and people). We were burning right around 3 gph. Talltigeguy -- I would guess that if your buddy was having problems getting out of the hole in his Toyota, it was probaby because the boat wasn't weighted right. With the stepped hull in the stern, it's important that the weight in the Toyotas is pretty close to 50/50...otherwise they have a lot of bow rise, and a lot of time out of the hole. Tell him to move the weight forward...they should get out of the hole fine at 2k. Much more than that, and they get a little sluggish.

Derek, I agree with your concept; however, lets put a Cummins in the boat and get some real fuel economy. . . :-)

We paid $3.11 at Shasta last week at the Bridge Bay dock. We heard it was 7 cents less at Holiday Holiday Harbor.

Hey, we do have to use super unleaded. Forgot to mention that. As for mine, there's gotta be a really good reason to put something other than Chevron super in there.

My cousin have the prototype of a water motor, in 2 weeks he will have it install in his car and right after that we put this in my boat it cost me 950$ to convert my boat to a water boat !!!! think about that

Radikal, i'm still thinking, and your post still confuses me. You all wanna cry, i was just in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for a week. Gas was between $1 and $1.10 per gallon, FOR 95 OCTANE! 105 Octane (also known in the U.S. as race fuel) was $1.35 per gallon, this is us dollars btw I might be moving there for a year, and one thing i won't mind is the gas prices. BTW, in Saudi Arabia gas is $0.30 per gallon, cause its homegrown, UAE doesn't refine its own gas, so its more.

When you come back from next trip, would you mind bringing back a Fat Seat full of that 105 for me?
