There are supposed to be a couple companies coming out in 2006 that are going to make a hinge style rack. Metcraft (manf. of the Illusion X), Westwinns, and a slim possibility that skylon might. As far as I have heard thats all for right now, but I wouldn't expect to see them until after the first of the year.

I'll also be ordering them on my boat. They have a set on a boat at the dealer, I will try to get a pic and post it in acouple days. They don't look as beefy as Mastercrafts pivoting rack. But I thank it will work, time will tell.

Okay here's the pictures I promised. They work pretty good and they look better than I remembered, They latch shut and are solid when the're in the closed position. When you open them they don't have any mechanism to help keep them open, like I've seen on others. But non the less very cool.

Malibu's pivoting racks

Why isnt the bracket color coated? It would look alot better if they were black.

looks good. do they swivel all the way into the boat? i have a narrow dock slip, so i'm trying to find something that will keep my boards from hitting the pilings.

i still think they should be color keyed to they tower but besides that they look great. One negative is i bet a board would reach speakers that hang down like nvs's. Maybe not factory but it would be close. atleast they are available now though.

Hey thanks for the pics Tim, I need to check them out in person still dont know if Im a fan. It would be sweet if the swung into the boat, Any idea on price.

I was told in the $450.00 range. Don't know if that is MSRP or what, but at least it's an ideal of what they cost. For the price I don't thank there to horribly priced. I thank I saw Skyline pivoting upgrade was in the neighborhood of $230.00 with out the board rack.

Jared, I agree I think they would look better if the swing part was all black. Is it possible to have them powder coated with out causing any problems with the meachanics of it. Just a thought. As far as the boards hitting the speakers I don't think that would be an issue they set a little lower than your typical board racks, at least on the Illusion X tower.
