Where did the term "Half Cab" originate? I know what it means wakeboarding-wise, but just curious of its origin. Also where did the Tindy grab become taboo and why? Help educate a non-board sport old dude that only played football as a kid. Thanks!

i think if ur grabbing tindy, ur just to lazy to grab more in the middle of the board. half cab came from skateboarding. steve cabilero (sp?) invented the cab which i think was a fakie 360. half of a 360 is a 180. half cab.

Thanks guys. My crew won't let me grab tindy, I was just wondering where the hate came from. To me slob should not be a legit grab then, but whatever.

No because a slob is a a front hand indy grab and there is no other grab to confuse it with really, its kinda hard to screw up a slob. and a tindy looks sloppy and its normally refered to as a beginer mistake, but if your a pro and can make it stylish, tindy is acceptable

A slob could be as could many other tricks if not placed correctly. Dane- A left hand grab when regular footed should be your front hand.

if we are look at the origin of the grab, a slob is a mute grab(front hand, toeside, between the feet) on a frontside air. slobs are generally done on spins and thus riders are given a little leeway. The tindy that is really looked down upon is the straight air, ugly, beginner, sloppy indy, tindy grab.

a "cab" is an old skate trick named for steve Caballero where you do a 360 while riding switch. A half cab is a switch 180. It's one of the few tricks that my old a** can still pull.

i think the term half cab should not be used in wakeboarding because its impossible, unless off a slider. fakie in skateboarding means riding switch but you ollie off the nose(basically a switch nollie). you cant ollie off the nose with a wakeboard because the nose would just dive in the water. next time you are about to say half cab to talk about a wakeboard trick, just say switch 180. because thats what it is. yee yee

Right on Mitch, There is no halfcab, cab or fakie in wakeboarding. It is only regular or switch.
