Has anyone tried ocean surfing with a wakesurf board?

No I haven't BUT the last time I surfed it was on a 6'0". It was shaped like a mini gun. I recon I could surf my Shred Stixx. It is much thicker and wider. I don't want to swim after it though.

I've wakesurfed, skimmed, and surfed the same board (my 4'4" wakeskim, and yes I own traditional surfboards)

My team riders and I use the Stixx instead of longboards when the waves are small. When it gets head high we have to install larger fins but get sick airs. They work you paddeling out! but it is alot of fun to use the same Stix in the ocean that you were using yesterday in the Delta.

Cool, I was thinking of trying this, but didn't know if it was worth it. Do you think it would be worth trying. It would also suck if the board got loose and went to shore after falling.

Chris,
Get an after market leash plug. They are about $3.00 and simple to install. Any surf shop has them. Catching waves on very short Stixx is not easy for anybody, let alone, beginners, But for sure, DO IT!! It's a BLAST!!

Like like Jerry recommends - EZ Plug is quick, easy, cheap and effective:

You'd think that man knew something about surfing, huh? :-) Hey Jerry, how was Surf Expo?

I surf both ocean and inland, just got back from surfing in Mexico for a week. I did use the HL Broadcast while at the boardwalk in NJ about two years ago. I didn't think it would work that well, but did ok, but super sucked swimming after it. If you are headed to the ocean hook up with a local board shop and rent. They will also be able to help point you in the right direction.

Have you ever surfed in the ocean before??? If not start on a long board and get ready to work your arms off!!!
