This is our first year owning an inboard, this weekend I will be taking the first ride of the season. Do i just screw the rear plug for the bilge pump back in, pour gas and ride or do i have to tow to the dealer?

Ummmmmm.

Yeah, put the plug back in on the transom, that should be the only one on a SAN.

Make sure everything else is a go and don't forget to check the seacock for the raw water entry.

You may want to call your dealer and verify if there is anything else that needs checking or doing before dunking it.

New boat?? Break in period??

At least call your dealer and dbl check. Make sure, if it was winterized, that it's been de-winterized.

You should make sure all hoses are connected before running the engine or else you could burn it up.

sounds like the first ride ever in your boat. there are a few things to check, especially since its first of the season. a phone call to the dealer is a MUST. if I were you, i would take someone with me that knows their way around an inboard. its pretty simple once you do it a few times, but could be some costly mistakes if you don't know what you're doing. have fun!

also sometimes a dealer will loosen the belts on the front of the engine to relieve tension when in srorage. just a little something to check out.

check the oil. if it were my boat id start it up and run it for a bit before heading to the lake(make sure you hook up water though).

read your manual..... most everything is in there....call the dealer for insurance, but they will most likely try to get some $$ from ya....
