i have looked at canyon lake from google earth and have yet to find the area that i see in mags and people talk about. every inch of that shoreline is dominated by homes and the overall size isn't very large at all.

See the causeway towards the north side of the lake right above mariners bay. On the north side of the causeway where it looks like a river, that is the "Back Water" which is where all the photo shoots and such are done.

that's what i thought but i couldn't find a place where a boat could get around. i bet with the sheer number of boats on that lake it is a freakin zoo everyday of the week.

actually the backwater is pretty much the only good water that you'll ever find in socal nowadays.

The main lake, you can ride early in the mornings and sometimes into the afternoon mostly. During the winter, it is all yours for the most part. The backwater (for those who dare) you have to know the rules. It is a rotation and like our beloved shawn said, that is where the photo shoots and video shots are done.
The problem with the main lake is all the sea walls, you get a few boats in there and it is pretty much worthless for wakeboarding.

so in order to get to the channel, do you have to trailer the boat and re-launch on the otherside?

Yes, and you can only bring in a boat if you are a home owner.

Yeah, You have to re-launch in the back lake, tiptoe pass all the hardcore skiers, and wait your turn in a long long line. Listen to Shawn it's horrible don't ever ever ever go there.

Yeah that place is the worst i can't believe i have ever been talked into riding there....the worst thing as Ian stated is tiptoeing past the skiers...and god forbid if you ever actually got hurt and had to mess up there pristine slalom water it would almost come to blows....i know this for a fact mang

jeez, i guess there's just no point in owning a boat on the lake then huh? damn, i wanted to move there, but now it's looking just a "bit" overrated.
