i have 95 maristar v-drive and raw water pump is dripping. all the dealers tell me to replace whole pump and a couple buddies that have inboards said they put new seal and a new bearing and have worked ever since. my boat has what looks to be a johnson pump. i will pull it off next week and have a look at it

buy a new one. Unless you have the resources, I think you have to press the shaft out to replace the seal and bearings. The bearings in mine fell apart when I pressed the shaft out. The labor to reseal it was about $40 less than buying a new one. skidim.com should have one at a good price.

Yeah, definately buy a new one. I had mine go out in the 99 X-Star. The new one was something like $140 and came with a brand new impeller inside it already.

Well worth the time saved to mess with rebuilding one.

If you are dripping around the seal to where the impeller is, all you need to do is replace the gasket. No need in paying that much when you can spend $2 and have it fixed.
