I have a 06 malibu and the ski pylon is stuck in the down position. I think it may be a vapor or moisture lock. Anyone know how to remedy this without banging the heck out of my boat?
Thanks

So it is stuck in there you can't get it out? If so, I have the same problem ALL the time and it is a huge pain. Let me know the details and I may be able to help

We used a ton of WD-40 and kind of shook it around. I sprayed it underneath and from the top and had two buddies with me...then just yanked it out. That was the first time, now it happens 9 times out of 10 but we're always able to get it out...

Try coating it with some white lithium and working it up and down a few times. WD40 is a terrible penetrant and a terrible lubricant. If you feel you need to use a penetrant use either PB Blaster or Kroil, it'll dissolve any bits or rust or anything, then clean up the penetrant and use white lithium grease on it.

There was a thread about this a few weeks back. The guy's dealer said that the best way to fix it is to hone it out a bit. I have the same issue with my 07 VLX, but only when the pylon heats up from the engine heat. Slides right up and down when it is cool. I might try that in the off season.
