Wiring my new Deafcons

My Deafcon III's are on the way and I'm planning on how I want to power them. I currently have 6-6.5's running on one amp (stock JBL can't remember size) that sound great after rewiring to maximize the amp's output. I also have an Autotek 640 watt (320 x 2 channels @ 4ohm) to run my 12" sub. I bought the amp with plans of using the other 320 amps to run my tower speakers. I know that running separate amps is the best way to go, but I'm hoping to power everything with what I currently have.

Does anyone see any problem with running my Deafcon III's in series and then bridging them at the amp? I've had success with this on other applications, but they were not components. Kicker's website doesn't give details regarding the load for the mid/tweet, but I assume that they are 4 ohms together.

They are 4 ohms together. I am not sure how you could re arrange your current set up, but I think you should get at least 75 watts rms to each speaker. This would probabaly require a 500 watt amp.

Just realized my typo. I want to run my sub and tower speakers off of the 640 watt amp - 320 watts for the sub and the other 320 to the tower.

Don't they rate the components in pairs? Meaning 150 watts max per set (2 mids/2 tweets)? It this is the case, 320 watts should be about right.

They may rate them in pairs, as I am no experts. However I doknow the defcon III's are composed four of Kicker K 6.2 component speakers. Each individual speaker has 150 watts max power rating.

Maybe, you could run the sub and interior speakers of of the JBL and use the 640 watt amp for the tower speakers. (assuming that the other amp is smaller)

Remember, the tower speakers are to be loud enough for the rider to hear (in theory). I have an amp each for my tower speakers and Sub and run four infinity's off the head unit. I don't really need any more power to the interior speakers because the tower speakers give plenty of volume.

This is how I would do it with your set up, but others may have better insight. BTW if you already have everything wired, buying a new amp online is cheap (relatively speaking).

I'm running 400 watts rms @ 2ohms off one side of a kicker 800.4 on a set of Deafcon III’s. The other side runs the back 4 boat speakers (the front runs off the head unit). I have a kicker 500.2 that I’m going to push my sub with. The tower speakers sound really good. Get a small class d amp for the sub. I realized two late that a kicker 600.1 is about 6 inches shorter than the 500.2, and has lower power usage. At the time I was going to run the tower off the 500.2 and the sub off one side, but 400 watts is plenty for the tower and 500 is just right for the sub. The 600 would have been better, and taken less space and juice. Lesson learned. I don't know if this helps, but it’s how I’m running mine, and the mistake I made in my setup.

I decided to rob an amp from my Jeep (which I rarely drive) to run my sub. I now have the 640 watt amp to run my tower speakers.

That should work out well, It is a little bigger than my amp, and I am surprised how loud my Defcon III's are. They could probably handle more power if you really wanted to push them.

FYI, My amp is in the passenger compartment and it gets hot, I will be putting in a fan very soon.
