First of all this boat is a direct drive. We have a manual wedge and the way i have been weighing it is taking out back seat and putting a plastic container that holds about 400 lbs. I put one sac on each side of the engine that weigh about 300 each. & the wedge is down of course, which supposedly adds 1000 lbs. Last summer i was also putting a tube in the bow which i would fill with about 300 lbs. My line is 65 ft long. And i have been riding at prob. about 22.5 mph. dunno exactly b/c the speed gage is broken.
Should I throw way more weight towards the front somehow? I am thinking on going out to 70. I much rather ride normally off a wakeboard boat, but no one has been going out this season yet. When i ride off v-drives or real wakeboard boats i ride from 70-75ft. Anyhow any suggestions would be helpful, thanx guys

With all that weight, it sounds like a new line of submarines.

I'm sure someone will jump in who weights a Response. We rode with a guy who had a 2000 LX years ago & he always had like 1000 lbs distributed around in it. Had a good wake, but he was always on the watch for a rogue wave about to swamp him. The rub rail wasn't more than a couple inches off the water.

has any1 ever tried to way a direct drive with wedge boat from the front. So like 800 in front to 400 in back?

^^ that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen with that much weight up front, especially in such a little boat. and the wedge doesnt really "add 1000 lbs" its just a marketing strategy malibu uses it really just shapes the wake and gives it a peak.

I have a 03 response lx. Took several years to dial it in and get the beat possible wake out of it. I run a fatsac seat bottom in place of the rear seat (680#), a skylon fatboy on both sides of the engine (580# a piece), and another 580# sac in the bow. And the wedge is always down. I'm also running re acme 911 prop and she planes like a champ. With all that weight in there and 3-4 people, the water only comes up to the bottom of the "Malibu" decals on the side of the boat. Tomorrow I'll post some pics of the wake and the boat in the water. I usually pull at 23 with a 75ft rope.

By the way tom. Bad idea on that weight in front. Even with my set up i've accidently drained the rear sac first (opposed to the front, and if your at an idle your doin a nose dive!

In our old DD Malibu I once had 3 500lb. sacks, the wedge, a full cooler and 8 people...it probably wasn't the best idea but the best wake I had ever gotten out of it!

Yea ours is firm I'm filling up fatsacs now actually, but I have the video camera with me so I get a video up of t and show you. I have 6 people going today so I'll end up putting the 580s on the sides of the engine, 580 up front and probably a 250 in the back, maybe. But I'll show you tonight.
